Background. A pilot-training experience focused on the integration of migrants from African coasts in Sicily (South Italy). This dissertation, composed of three unique scholarly articles, explores some of the ways in which institutions of higher education facilitate and mitigate social injustice on a global scale. Specifically analyzing the behavior of administrative actors—defined as those that serve in a leadership role outside of the classroom—the purpose of the research was twofold. Firstly, I aimed to identify the mechanisms by which administrative actors at U.S. and Finnish institutions of higher education legitimized and rationalized their involvement in globally unjust educational practices. Learning and maintaining languages in the workplace: migrant NGO practitioners in Finland

This article reports on a linguistic ethnographic study exploring migrant NGO practitioners’ language learning and maintenance at work. The findings suggest that the migrants learnt not only the language of the receiving society, in this case Finnish, but also English as an additional language through work. The narratives also show that the workplace supported migrants in maintaining both their home language and additional languages. Overall, the study highlights the importance of language learning and maintenance, which promote the linguistic integration and social inclusion of migrant NGO practitioners in the workplace. This paper draws on practice theory and a review of practice theoretical studies in marketing, management, consumer, and markets research to advance our knowledge of marketing as a value-creating activity within firms. Building on previous research, the paper contributes to the literature by advancing a Marketing-as-Practice (MAP) framework based on three key concepts: marketing practices, marketing practitioners, and marketing praxis. L’objectif de cet article est de contribuer à la compréhension des préférences des médecins pour différents dispositifs, financiers ou non, susceptibles d’être implantés en France afin de favoriser la prévention en médecine de ville. La méthode du Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) est mobilisée à travers une enquête menée auprès de 1 396 médecins qui permet d’analyser 3 390 observations. L’estimation économétrique de la fonction d’utilité des médecins est conduite dans le cadre d’un modèle Logit conditionnel, des dispositions à payer marginales sont également calculées. The academic-practitioner relationship has been alleged to be subject to various tensions and dualities; the divide between academia and practice has even been characterized as unbridgeable. This paper presents a research case of a long-lasting, successful collaboration between a researcher and senior practitioners during a PhD research process.
