Hard cap espresso extraction and liquid chromatography determination of bioactive compounds in vegetables and spices

Abstract A new analytical procedure, based on liquid chromatography with diode array and fluorescence detection, has been proposed for the determination of bioactive compounds in vegetables and spices after hard cap espresso extraction. This novel extraction system has been tested for the determination of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin from fresh chilli and sweet pepper, piperine from ground pepper, curcumin from turmeric and curry, and myristicin from nutmeg. Extraction efficiency was evaluated by using acetonitrile:water and ethanol:water mixtures. The proposed method allows the extraction of samples with 100 mL of 60% (v/v) ethanol in water. Abstract In the present article we study global existence for a nonlinear parabolic equation having a reaction term and a Radon measure datum: where 1 < p < N, Ω is a bounded open subset of ℝN (N ≥ 2), Δpu = div(|∇u|p−2∇u) is the so called p-Laplacian operator, sign s ., ϕ(ν0) ∈ L1(Ω), μ is a finite Radon measure and f ∈ L∞(Ω×(0, T)) for every T > 0. Then we apply this existence result to show wild nonuniqueness for a connected nonlinear parabolic problem having a gradient term with natural growth.

Abstract Recently, quaternary oxynitrides of transition metals and aluminum have attracted increasing interest due to their tunable properties. Within the present work, a series of TaAl(O)N films was sputter deposited using constant nitrogen and varying oxygen partial pressures. The films were grown from single element Ta and Al targets. The deposition parameters were adjusted to obtain a Ta/Al atomic ratio of ~50/50 for the oxygen-free film and were held constant for the following depositions, with the exception of the increasing oxygen partial pressure and compensatory decreasing argon partial pressure. Here, we applied a high-pressure torsion (HPT) apparatus to deform SCHOTT SF6 â glass and attempted to quantify the effect of pressure and temperature on the shear deformation of glass subjected to pressures from 0.3 GPa to 7 GPa and temperatures from 25 ℃ to 496 ℃. Abstract. Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) is a widely used technique for both laboratory-based and ambient atmospheric chemistry measurements. However, LIF instruments require calibrations in order to translate instrument response into concentrations of chemical species. A new process combining electric field activation and the imposition of pressure from mechanically activated powder mixtures is demonstrated as a means to simultaneously synthesize and densify nano-MoSi2 in one step. Nanophase reactants (Mo + 2Si) produced by mechanical activation are reacted by field activation with the simultaneous application of a uniaxial pressure. Mo + 2Si powders were comilled in a specially designed planetary mill to obtain nanometric reactants but to avoid formation of any product phases. This paper discusses the characteristics of ZnO and ZnO:Ga ceramics fabricated by uniaxial hot pressing. The short-wavelength transmission limit of zinc oxide ceramics is in the 370-nm region; the long-wavelength limit is determined by the free-charge-carrier concentration and lies in the interval from 5 to 9 μm. The total transmittance of such ceramics in the visible and near-IR regions is about 70% when the sample is 0.5 mm thick. The luminescence spectrum is represented by a broad emission band with maximum at 580 nm, having a defect nature. Abstract We have analysed the growth, morphological and structural characterization of Cd1-xZnxO thin films grown on r-sapphire substrates by atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapour deposition, mainly focusing on the Cd-rich rock-salt phase for its promising optical and technological applications. Abstract In this paper the growth of CdO by the MOCVD technique at atmospheric pressure has been studied in order to achieve very thin films of this material on r-sapphire substrates. The growth evolution of these films was discussed and the existence of a threshold thickness, below which island-shaped structures appear, was demonstrated. Some alternatives to reduce this threshold thickness have been proposed in the frame of the analysis of the crystal growth process.
