Finite Soluble Groups with Permutable Subnormal Subgroups

Abstract A finite group G is said to be a PST -group if every subnormal subgroup of G permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G . We shall discuss the normal structure of soluble PST -groups, mainly defining a local version of this concept. A deep study of the local structure turns out to be crucial for obtaining information about the global property. Moreover, a new approach to soluble PT -groups, i.e., soluble groups in which permutability is a transitive relation, follows naturally from our vision of PST -groups. Three cyclic branched covers suffice to determine hyperbolic knots.

Let n > m > 2 be two fixed coprime integers. We prove that two Conway reducible, hyperbolic knots sharing the 2-fold, m-fold and n-fold cyclic branched covers are equivalent. Using previous results by Zimmermann we prove that this implies that a hyperbolic knot is determined by any three of its cyclic branched covers.

Integrin alpha2 subunit forms in the complex with the beta1 subunit a cell surface receptor binding extracellular matrix molecules, such as collagens and laminin-1. It is a receptor for echovirus-1, as well. Ligands are recognized by the special "inserted" domain (I domain) in the integrin alpha2 subunit. Venom from a pit viper, Bothrops jararaca, has been shown to inhibit the interaction of platelet alpha2beta1 integrin with collagen because of the action of a disintegrin/metalloproteinase named jararhagin.
