The Protection of the Right of Freedom on the European Union Level: The European Arrest Warrant and Non-custodial Pre Trial Measures. The Guideline o…
2012
“Protection of fundamental rights in particular must be central to the operation of the system:” this formula, found at the heart of the most recent official assessment of the EAW (2011), perfectly summarizes, in terms of political policy, the progressive shift of emphasis from efficiency and security towards the primacy of the protection of individual rights across the entire field of EU measures restricting individual liberty. The experience gained in terms of the principle of proportionality thus becomes a basic paradigm for the interpretation of the system in terms of applied law. The three levels through which the filter of proportionality has operated in the system of the EAW (multile…

Electro- and magneto-electrochemistry of zeolite Y- and MCM-41-associated bipyrylium ion
2005
Abstract The electrochemical response of bipyrylium bication [1,4-bis(3,5-diphenyl-4-pyrylium)phenylene] associated with Y and MCM-41 aluminosilicates (BTP@Y and BTP@MCM, respectively) is described using polymer-film electrodes immersed into Et 4 N + + MeCN and Bu 4 N + + MeCN electrolytes. BTP@MCM provides a solution-like response in all electrolytes consisting in two successive strongly comproportionation mediated one-electron reduction processes near to +0.05 and −0.12 V vs. Ag|AgCl. The response of BTP@Y in Bu 4 N + + MeCN is restricted to a unique reduction process near to −0.40 V, while in Et 4 N + + MeCN, it differs significantly: here, two reduction processes at −0.22 and −0.36 …
TET2 mutation is an independent favorable prognostic factor in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDSs).
2009
Abstract Oncogenic pathways underlying in the development of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) remain poorly characterized, but mutations of the ten-eleven translocation 2 (TET2) gene are frequently observed. In the present work, we evaluated the prognostic impact of TET2 mutations in MDS. Frameshift, nonsense, missense mutations, or defects in gene structure were identified in 22 (22.9%) of 96 patients (95% confidence interval [CI], 14.5-31.3 patients). Mutated and unmutated patients did not significantly differ in initial clinical or hematologic parameters. The 5-year OS was 76.9% (95% CI, 49.2%-91.3%) in mutated versus 18.3% (95% CI, 4.2%-41.1%) in unmutated patients (P = .005). The 3-year…
Impact of Safety-Related Dose Reductions or Discontinuations on Sustained Virologic Response in HCV-Infected Patients: Results from the GUARD-C Cohor…
2015
Background: Despite the introduction of direct-acting antiviral agents for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, peginterferon alfa/ribavirin remains relevant in many resource-constrained settings. The non-randomized GUARD-C cohort investigated baseline predictors of safety-related dose reductions or discontinuations (sr-RD) and their impact on sustained virologic response (SVR) in patients receiving peginterferon alfa/ribavirin in routine practice. Methods: A total of 3181 HCV-mono-infected treatment-naive patients were assigned to 24 or 48 weeks of peginterferon alfa/ribavirin by their physician. Patients were categorized by time-to-first sr-RD (Week 4/12). Detailed analyses of the i…
Atmospheric risks and climate change: didactic proposals for the Mediterranean region in middle and high school
2021
How the Covid-19 Pandemic Is Changing Online Food Shopping Human Behaviour in Italy

Dinotrema vitobiasi sp. nov., a new Spanish species of the genus Dinotrema Foerster, 1862 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) with only basomedially sculptured…
2013
A new species of Dinotrema with only basomedially sculptured propodeum, Dinotrema vitobiasi sp. nov., is described from Spain. A comparison of this new species with its three morphologically most similar species, D. vituperatum (Fischer, 1974), D. latifemur (Fischer, 1975) and D. carinatum (Tobias, 1962), is provided.
Frailty as a predictor of all-cause mortality in older men and women
2014
Aims To investigate the modifying effect of sex on the association between frailty and all-cause mortality, and to determine the effects of changes in frailty status on mortality. Methods This population-based study comprised 654 persons aged 76–100 years (mean age 82 ± 4.6 years). Frailty status was assessed at baseline in 2005, and reassessed in 2007 (n = 546) using the Cardiovascular Health Study criteria. Death dates were received from the official register until the end of 2009. The associations between frailty, changes in frailty and mortality were investigated using Cox regression models. Results At baseline, 93 (14%) participants were classified as frail, and 311 (48%) as pre-frail.…
