Akadēmiskā prokrastinācija, emocionālais intelekts un kontroles lokuss studentiem.

2016

Šī maģistra darba mērķis bija noskaidrot, cik lielā mērā emocionālais inteleks un kontroles lokuss paredz prokrastināciju un noteikt saistības starp prokrastināciju, emocionālo intelektu un kontroles lokusu. Pētījumā piedalījās 109 studējoši respondenti vecumā no 19 līdz 42 gadiem (M = 25,5; SD = 5,43). Pētījumā tika pielietotas trīs aptaujas: Akadēmiskās prokrastinācijas aptauja (Academic Procrastination Scale, Lay,1986), Emocionālā intelekta aptauja (The Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test, STREIT, Schutte et al., 1998, kā minēts Shutte, Malouff & Bhullar, 2009) un Internālā – eksternālā kontroles lokusa skala (Rotter, J.B., 1966). Rezultāti rāda, ka prokrastinācija negatīvi korelē ar…

The relationship between trait procrastination, Internet use, and psychological functioning : results from a community sample of German adolescents

2018

Adolescents with a strong tendency for irrational task delay (i.e., high trait procrastination) may be particularly prone to use Internet applications simultaneously to other tasks (e.g., during homework) and in an insufficiently controlled fashion. Both Internet multitasking and insufficiently controlled Internet usage may thus amplify the negative mental health implications that have frequently been associated with trait procrastination. The present study explored this role of Internet multitasking and insufficiently controlled Internet use for the relationship between trait procrastination and impaired psychological functioning in a community sample of N = 818 early and middle adolescent…

Decision-making Styles in Adolescent Offenders and Non-offenders: Effects of Emotional Intelligence and Empathy

2021

The literature indicates that adolescents with delinquent behavior have greater difficulty making rational decisions and show lower emotional intelligence and empathy. Decision-making is a set of complex processes associated with neurobiological, cognitive, emotional, and social factors which help regulate and guide behavior, which could be influenced by emotional intelligence and empathy. A comparative, correlational, and predictive study was conducted to analyze relationships and influence of emotional intelligence and empathy in decision-making styles in adolescent offenders and non-offenders. 808 Colombian adolescents between 14 and 18 years of age participated (50p offenders). The resu…

Young University Students’ Academic Self-Regulation Profiles and Their Associated Procrastination: Autonomous Functioning Requires Self-Regulated Ope…

2020

Students' autonomous self-regulation requires not only self-motivation but also volition or transforming motivation into specific behavioral intentions and following through. Self-regulation includes self-motivation (i.e., goal setting, learning from mistakes) and volitional regulation (i.e., strategic decision making). Furthermore, individual differences, like trait-level perseverance, significantly influence both motivation and volition. Procrastination has been defined as a volitional self-regulation problem, which involves delaying what one had intended to do, in spite of being motivated, and regardless of anticipating adverse consequences. Thus, it is a tendency toward dysregulated beh…
