About the finite convergence of the proximal point algorithm

We study the finite convergence property of the proximal point algorithm applied to the partial inverse, with respect to a subspace, of the subdifferential of a polyhedral convex function. Using examples we show how sufficient conditions providing the finite convergence can be realized and we give a case with non finite termination.

Finite-dimensional pseudo-bosons: a non-Hermitian version of the truncated harmonic oscillator

We propose a deformed version of the commutation rule introduced in 1967 by Buchdahl to describe a particular model of the truncated harmonic oscillator. The rule we consider is defined on a $N$-dimensional Hilbert space $\Hil_N$, and produces two biorhogonal bases of $\Hil_N$ which are eigenstates of the Hamiltonians $h=\frac{1}{2}(q^2+p^2)$, and of its adjoint $h^\dagger$. Here $q$ and $p$ are non-Hermitian operators obeying $[q,p]=i(\1-Nk)$, where $k$ is a suitable orthogonal projection operator. These eigenstates are connected by ladder operators constructed out of $q$, $p$, $q^\dagger$ and $p^\dagger$. Some examples are discussed.

Background: Accumulating evidence suggests that stigmatisation toward people with schizophrenia (PWS) is common among healthcare professionals and represents a major barrier to care. Background Psychotic patients tend to require less evidence to make decisions compared to general population. This bias named Jumping to Conclusions (JTC) has been found at First Episode Psychosis (FEP) in schizophrenia patients and associated with proneness to psychotic-like experiences in the general population. Interesting findings showed also strong association with lower cognitive functioning in psychotic patients, which in turn has been shown as a candidate intermediate phenotype for psychosis.
