La patria potestad prorrogada y la patria potestad rehabilitada en el nuevo proyecto de ley de reforma de la legislación civil y procesal para el apo…

2021

It is intended to analyze and reflect in the present work about the institution of the extension of parental authority and parental authority rehabilitated in the new regulation in the Draft Law that reforms the civil and procedural legislation to support people with disabilities in the exercise of their legal capacity. In this project, the extended parental authority and the rehabilitated parental authority are eliminated from the scope of disability, following a criterion that demands the treatment of people with disabilities with the attention that their specific situation requires, eliminating a regime that seems contrary to the system of promoting the autonomy of adults with disabiliti…

Preparation and Promotion of Fruit Growth in Kiwifruit of Fluorinated N-Phenyl-N‘-1,2,3-thiadiazol-5-yl Ureas

2004

Seventeen phenyl-fluorinated analogues of thidiazuron [N-phenyl-N'-(1,2,3-thiadiazol-5-yl)urea, TDZ] have been prepared and characterized. The effects of each fluorinated urea on growth and quality of kiwifruits (Actinidia deliciosa) were evaluated by comparison with untreated (control) and TDZ-treated fruits. The results obtained showed a clear dependence of the growth-promoting activity of these fluorinated ureas on the pattern and degree of fluorine substitution in the phenyl ring. The most effective for promoting fruit growth was N-(2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl)-N'-(1',2',3'-thiadiazol-5'-yl)urea at 25 ppm (at harvest, treated fruits were 58% heavier than untreated ones) followed by N-(3,5…

Methylphenidate, modafinil, and caffeine for cognitive enhancement in chess: A double-blind, randomised controlled trial.

2017

Stimulants and caffeine have been proposed for cognitive enhancement by healthy subjects. This study investigated whether performance in chess - a competitive mind game requiring highly complex cognitive skills - can be enhanced by methylphenidate, modafinil or caffeine. In a phase IV, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 39 male chess players received 2×200mg modafinil, 2×20mg methylphenidate, and 2×200mg caffeine or placebo in a 4×4 crossover design. They played twenty 15-minute games during two sessions against a chess program (Fritz 12; adapted to players' strength) and completed several neuropsychological tests. Marked substance effects were observed since all three subs…

Metabolomic Analysis Of Durum Wheat Roots In Response to Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Inoculation in Field Conditions

2014

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are commonly occurring fungi that live in an obligate symbiotic status with the majority of land plants. The objective of the present work was to gain insight into the root metabolism changes (primary and secondary metabolism) of durum wheat in response to solely AM fungi inoculation or to combination of AM fungi with plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) (Bacillus spp.). Field trial was performed in 2010–2011 in a typical semi-arid Mediterranean area (inner land of Sicily) in absence of fertilization. The untarget metabolomics analysis using the Agilent GC–quadrupole MS identified metabolites playing a key role in symbiosis as well as in root physiol…

The DNA-binding subunit p140 of replication factor C is upregulated in cycling cells and associates with G 1 phase cell cycle regulatory proteins

1999

The DNA-binding subunit of replication factor C (RFCp140) plays an important role in both DNA replication and DNA repair. The mechanisms regulating activation of RFCp140 thereby controlling replication and cellular proliferation are largely unknown. We analyzed protein expression of RFCp140 during cell cycle progression and investigated the association of RFCp140 with cell cycle regulatory proteins in cell lines of various tissue origin and in primary hematopoietic cells. Western and Northern blot analyses of RFCp140 from synchronized cells showed downregulation of RFCp140 when cells enter a G0-like quiescent state and upregulation of RFCp140 in cycling cells. Translocation from the cytopla…

The APC/C cofactor Cdh1 prevents replicative stress and p53-dependent cell death in neural progenitors

2013

The E3-ubiquitin ligase APC/C-Cdh1 is essential for endoreduplication but its relevance in the mammalian mitotic cell cycle is still unclear. Here we show that genetic ablation of Cdh1 in the developing nervous system results in hypoplastic brain and hydrocephalus. These defects correlate with enhanced levels of Cdh1 substrates and increased entry into the S phase in neural progenitors. However, cell division is prevented in the absence of Cdh1 due to hyperactivation of cyclin-dependent kinases, replicative stress, induction of p53, G2 arrest and apoptotic death of these progenitor cells. Concomitant ablation of p53 rescues apoptosis but not replicative stress, resulting in the presence of …

Biological control of Listeria monocytogenes in soil model systems by Enterococcus mundtii strains expressing mundticin KS production

2022

Abstract The agricultural practices applied in pre-harvest greatly influence the presence and the levels of microorganisms in fresh produce. Among these, Listeria monocytogenes represents one of the most lethal foodborne pathogens associated with vegetables. The main hypothesis of this work is that bacteriocin producer Enterococcus mundtii strains can be effective against L. monocytogenes in soil. To this purpose, bacteriocin production by E. mundtii WFE3, WFE20 and WFE31, three strains showing a strong bacteriocin activity in terms of inhibitory power and inhibition spectra, was evaluated in sterile extracts from agricultural soil and peat moss, in organic nutrient solution (ONS) and miner…
