Musical training causes structural and functional changes in the brain due to its sensory-motor demands, but the modulatory effect of musical training on music feature processing in the brain in a continuous music listening paradigm, has not been investigated thus far. In this work, we investigate the differences between musicians and non-musicians in the encoding of musical features encompassing musical timbre, rhythm and tone. 18 musicians and 18 non-musicians were scanned using fMRI while listening to 3 varied stimuli. Existence, uniqueness and comparison results for BSDEs with Lévy jumps in an extended monotonic generator setting

We show existence of a unique solution and a comparison theorem for a one-dimensional backward stochastic differential equation with jumps that emerge from a L\'evy process. The considered generators obey a time-dependent extended monotonicity condition in the y-variable and have linear time-dependent growth. Within this setting, the results generalize those of Royer (2006), Yin and Mao (2008) and, in the $L^2$-case with linear growth, those of Kruse and Popier (2016). The teacher-in-role (TIR) strategy is used in process drama to strengthen the dramatic experience and promote learning among the participants. In this study, one TIR construct is examined through the lens of Erving Goffman’s concept of facework in order to deepen the understanding of the subtle and vulnerable processes of interaction in process drama. TIR is considered to be an interactive construct in which both artistry and pedagogy are embodied. Kuusi vuotta on kulunut siitä, kun Jyväskylän yliopisto siirtyi julkaisutietojen keskitettyyn tallentamiseen. Aiemmin hajautetusti tutkijoiden omasta toimesta tapahtunut CRIS-kirjaamistyö siirrettiin kirjaston (nyk. Avoimen tiedon keskus, OSC) vastuulle niin, että tutkijat itse eivät kirjauksia enää tee, vaan niistä huolehtii OSC. Syntyi "JYU-malli". Body composition in 18 to 88-year-old adults - comparison of multifrequency bioimpedance and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry

Objective -- This study compared bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in the assessment of body composition with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in 18- to 88-year-old adults. Design and Methods -- Body composition of 882 adults was estimated by eight-polar BIA and DXA. In addition, estimates of lean mass, fat mass, and percentage of fat were investigated across a range of age and leisure time physical activity (LTPA) groups. Results -- Compared to DXA, larger lean masses (mean difference 2.9 and 1.6 kg) and smaller fat masses (3.1 and 2.6 kg) were estimated by BIA in both women and men, respectively. The effect of long context exposure on cued conditioning and c-fos expression in the rat forebrain

The c-fos expression was used to study the neural substrates of the cued fear conditioning acquisition, preceded by a short exposure versus a long exposure to the conditioning context. A long-context exposure (either during the night or during the day) prior to conditioning, was associated with low freezing in the learning test. Differences in the c-fos expression of CA1, CA3, BL Amygdala, LS and BNST were found between the short- or long-context groups with a pre-exposure before cued conditioning.
