Nonlinear Analysis of Charge-Pump Phase-Locked Loop : The Hold-In and Pull-In Ranges

In this paper a fairly complete mathematical model of CP-PLL, which reliable enough to serve as a tool for credible analysis of dynamical properties of these circuits, is studied. We refine relevant mathematical definitions of the hold-in and pull-in ranges related to the local and global stability. Stability analysis of the steady state for the charge-pump phase locked loop is non-trivial: straight-forward linearization of available CP-PLL models may lead to incorrect conclusions, because the system is not smooth near the steady state and may experience overload. Abstract This paper presents a detailed analysis of the energy and economic performance of desiccant cooling systems (DEC) equipped with both single glazed standard air and hybrid photovoltaic/thermal (PV/t) collectors for applications in hot and humid climates. The use of ‘solar cogeneration’ by means of PV/t hybrid collectors enables the simultaneous production of electricity and heat, which can be directly used by desiccant air handling units, thereby making it possible to achieve very energy savings. Demonstration of an efficient pumping scheme for a 7.36-nm Ni-like samarium soft x-ray laser

The demonstration of a 7.36 nm Ni-like Sm soft x-ray laser pumped by 36 J of a Nd:glass chirped pulse amplification laser is presented. Double-pulse single-beam non-normal incidence pumping was applied for the efficient soft x-ray laser generation. Here the applied technique included a new single optic focusing geometry for large beam diameters, a single-pass grating compressor traveling-wave tuning capability and an optimized high energy laser double-pulse. This scheme has the potential for even shorter wavelength soft x-ray laser pumping.

Abstract Background: Mammalian organelles of the secretory pathway are of differing pH. The pH values form a decreasing gradient: the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is nearly neutral, the Golgi is mildly acidic and the secretory granules are more acidic still (∼pH 5). The mechanisms that regulate pH in these organelles are still unknown. Improving Separation of Oil and Water With a Novel Coalescing Centrifugal Pump

Summary A novel centrifugal pump that increases oil-droplet sizes in produced water has been developed. This paper investigates a concept of pumping-pressure optimization, with respect to downstream separation efficiency, for the new pump. The investigation shows that the coalescing centrifugal pump always increased the separation efficiency of a downstream hydrocyclone. Furthermore, it is shown that the pumping pressure can be adjusted to maximize the improvement. Experimental results demonstrate how pumping conditions that minimize the volume fraction of droplets with a diameter smaller than the cut size of the hydrocyclone maximize the separation efficiency. Summary In this paper we present the development and implementation of automatic operation and control for a pump/hydrocyclone produced-water-treatment system to maximize oil/water-separation efficiency. A so-called perturb-and-observe (P&O) algorithm is adapted for a novel centrifugal pump to continuously optimize the point of operation.
