Abstract The amount of available digital data is increasing at a tremendous rate. These data, however, are of limited use unless converted into a user-friendly form. We took on this task and built a natural language generation (NLG) driven system that generates journalistic news stories about elections without human intervention. Pere Salinas and Joan Navarro initiated with Atlas (Correspondencia 2005-2007) a dialogue between painting and poetry. The book starts with a painting by Pere Salinas, which provokes a poem by Joan Navarro, which in turn provokes a painting. It continues this way until getting to 46 images and 46 poems. The concept of dialogism allows analyzing how alterity, the orientation towards a nonverbal answer, determines poetical writing. The poet, in his dialogue with each pictorial text, searches for new ways of expression that privilege the showing, from deictics to images, and this search leads to an experimentation that alters the entire poetical system. [EN] Proper usage of punctuation marks is fundamental for good writing. Teachers are a key factor in the learning process of students¿ command of punctuation marks as they are the major source of information for learners. This article offers various studies which show the teachers¿ command of the usage of punctuation marks and the most important difficulties they encounter in their teaching experience. Similary, we review also some research that are far from the normative point of view and focus on psycholinguistic aspects in which it is to see how children learn to score and how adults can get better use of signs.

AbstractReading a text without spaces in an alphabetic language causes disruption at the levels of word identification and eye movement control. In the present experiment, we examined how word discriminability affects the pattern of eye movements when reading unspaced text in an alphabetic language. More specifically, we designed an experiment in which participants read three types of sentences: normally written sentences, regular unspaced sentences, and alternatingbold unspaced sentences. Although there was a reading cost in the unspaced sentences relative to the normally written sentences, this cost was much smaller in alternatingbold unspaced sentences than in regular unspaced sentences.
An integrated dialect analysis tool using phonetics and acoustics

This study aimed to verify a computational phonetic and acoustic analysis tool created in the MATLAB environment. A dataset was obtained containing 3 broad American dialects (Northern, Western and New England) from the TIMIT database using words that also appeared in the Swadesh list. Each dialect consisted of 20 speakers uttering 10 sentences. Verification using phonetic comparisons between dialects was made by calculating the Levenshtein distance in Gabmap and the proposed software tool. Agreement between the linguistic distances using each analysis method was found. The embodied sources of purpose expressions in Latin

This chapter examines the phrasal means of encoding the semantic role of purpose in Latin. After discussing the notion of semantic role and its use in cognitive linguistics, we illustrate the conceptual relation between the notional domains of space and causation. On this basis, we analyze the source of purpose expressions in Latin, which are mainly based on direction (bare dative and the allative markers, i.e. ad / in + accusative), but also include prepositional phrases metaphorically derived from location (e.g. per + accusative, prō + ablative, propter + accusative), or metonymically spreading from reason to purpose (as in the case of causal markers such as genitive + causā and gratiā ).

In June 2015, the serial heritage site “Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale” was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Maredolce Castle and the Scibene Palace, owing to the loss of original elements or due to problems of conservation and function, once resolved, cannot be part of the itinerary.
