PRACTICAL ASPECTS IN THE ACQUISITION OF THE EDUCATIONAL CONTENT PUPILS WITH DISORDERS OF MENTAL DEVELOPMENT
2015
The article reflects two parts of the study – theoretical that reveals four aspects in the acquisition of the educational content of pupils with disorders of mental development in special education institution. It presents the analysis of theoretical ideas (N. Geidzs, D. Berliner, E. Geyser) about ensuring the emotional context in everyday life and the development of research activities. The views expressed by different scientists (A. Adler, H. Gadamers, A. Bandura) about the importance of imitation skills for pupils with disorders of mental development compared. The practical study summarizes and analyzes the results of the survey the participants of which were 27 special education teacher…

Large Depth-of-Field Integral Microscopy by Use of a Liquid Lens
2018
Integral microscopy is a 3D imaging technique that permits the recording of spatial and angular information of microscopic samples. From this information it is possible to calculate a collection of orthographic views with full parallax and to refocus computationally, at will, through the 3D specimen. An important drawback of integral microscopy, especially when dealing with thick samples, is the limited depth of field (DOF) of the perspective views. This imposes a significant limitation on the depth range of computationally refocused images. To overcome this problem, we propose here a new method that is based on the insertion, at the pupil plane of the microscope objective, of an electrical…
Accommodation-related changes in monochromatic aberrations of the human eye as a function of age.
2008
PURPOSE. To investigate the relationship between accommodation and the optical aberrations of the whole human eye, as a function of age. METHODS. Sixty healthy subjects with spherical ametropia in the range 3 D, astigmatism less than 1 D, corrected visual acuity of 20/18 or better, and normal findings in an ophthalmic examination were enrolled. Subjects were divided into four groups, with age ranges of 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, and 50 to 60 years. Monochromatic optical aberrations and pupil size were measured with a Hartmann-Shack wavefront sensor under monocular viewing conditions, without pharmacological dilation or cycloplegia. Stimulus vergences were in the range of 0 to 5 D, with a…
Changes in the objective amplitude of accommodation with pupil size.
2014
PURPOSE We evaluate the effect of pupil size on objectively measured amplitude of accommodation (AA). METHODS Pupil diameter and wavefront aberrometry were obtained in 15 eyes when stimulus swept across the range of clear vision in steps of 0.5 diopters. Wavefront refraction techniques were used to compute objective AA as the maximum refractive change. Measurements were obtained monocularly under low and high ambient room lighting conditions with a fixed luminance of the fixation target. Amplitude of accommodation computations were performed taking into account just paraxial rays (paraxial AA) or including the effects of the change of spherical aberration during accommodation (minRMS AA). R…
Possible involvement of nitric oxide in morphine-induced miosis and reduction of intraocular pressure in rabbits.
2006
The role of μ3 opioid receptors in morphine-induced intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering effect and miosis was evaluated in conscious, dark-adapted New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits using a masked-design study. IOP and pupil diameter (PD) measurements were taken at just before and 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6 h after monolateral instillation of morphine (10, 50 and 100 μg/30 μl) as compared to vehicle administered in the contralateral eye. Morphine-induced ocular effects were challenged by a pre-treatment with the non-selective opioid receptor antagonist, naloxone (100 μg/30 μl), the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, Nω-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (l-NAME, 1%, 30 μl), or the non-selective μ3 opioid recept…
Retinal straylight in patients with monofocal and multifocal intraocular lenses
2007
Purpose To determine the differences in retinal straylight perceived by patients with monofocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) and patients with multifocal IOLs. Setting Vissum-Instituto de Oftalmologico de Alicante, Alicante, Spain. Methods In this prospective study, contrast sensitivity and retinal straylight were measured prospectively 6 months postoperatively in 67 eyes of 40 patients with a monofocal or multifocal IOL. In the monofocal group, a ThinOptX IOL (ThinOptX, Inc.) was implanted in 12 eyes and an Acri.Smart 48 S IOL (Acri.Tec) in 20 eyes. In the multifocal IOL group, a ReZoom IOL (Advanced Medical Optics) was implanted in 13 eyes and a ReSTOR IOL (Alcon Laboratories) in 22 eyes. Re…
Occult non-metallic intraocular foreign body causing recurrent anterior uveitis
2015
Purpose To describe the case of textile worker with recurrent anterior uveitis following the traumatic penetration of nylon thread into the anterior segment of the eye. Methods Examination by slit-lamp of the affected eye B-scan ultrasonography during the inflammatory episode and after the resolution of the uveitis. Visual Acuity Measurement during the inflammatory episode and after the resolution of the uveitis. Results The use of topical therapy together with antibiotic systemic therapy led to the regression of the inflammatory symptoms (intense epibulbar and tarsal hyperemia with perikeratic reaction, corneal sub-oedema with some folds in the Descemet's membrane, Tyndall 2+ and a layer o…
