Shared Sequences from Network Therapy with Adolescents Only the therapist Finds Meaningful
2016
As part of a larger research project, this qualitative study explores sequences from six network therapy sessions. We focused on these sequences because only the therapists found them to be meaningful; the other participants did not think they were significant. The aim of this study was to explore the therapists’ inner dialogues, the degree to which these inner dialogues consist of professional and personal voices, and what this means for the dialogical process. We used a multi-perspective methodology that combines video recordings of network therapy sessions, participants’ interviews, and text analysis. We found that the outer dialogue and the therapists’ inner dialogues are strongly relat…
‘Through speaking, he finds himself … a bit’: Dialogues Open for Moving and Living through Inviting Attentiveness, Expressive Vitality and New Meaning
2015
Studies exploring the experiences of recovering from mental health difficulties show the significance of social and relational aspects. Dialogical practices operate within the realm of social relations; individual perspectives are not the primary focus of attention. The present study is part of a series of qualitative studies from southern Norway, exploring dialogical practices and change from the perspective of lived experience and in relationship with network meetings. Two co-researchers, who themselves had experienced mental health difficulties, were part of the research team. Material from qualitative interviews was analysed through a dialogical hermeneutical process where ideas from Em…
Studying international doctoral researchers : nexus analysis as a mode of inquiry
2020
In this paper I argue how nexus analysis (Scollon & Scollon, 2004), as a holistic, qualitative mode of inquiry, can offer a fruitful activist research approach to study international doctoral researchers. To do this, I will introduce and explain the core concepts of nexus analysis and afterwards empirically demonstrate how nexus analysis can be done in practice by presenting a case study on international doctoral researchers in a particular nexus—at a Finnish university. The overall aim of this paper is to present nexus analysis as a viable alternative for those higher education researchers who want to study communication, interaction, and language-related challenges of international do…

Children’s Voices on Bullying in Kindergarten
2016
Research suggests that bullying does occur in kindergarten. The extent of bullying in Norway and other Scandinavian countries is estimated to be about 12 %. The purpose of this study is to investigate children’s understanding and experiences of bullying. We use a qualitative approach and have conducted individual interviews and focus group interviews with a total of 31 children, 5 year-olds, in 4 different kindergartens. Additionally, observations were made of 4–5 year-olds in the same kindergartens, 142 children in total. The results show that the children describe bullying as doing or saying “something mean”. Exclusion from play is what all the children fear the most. This study shows tha…

Methods The study adopted a qualitative design and eight individual semi-structured interviews were conducted. The interviews were analysed using manifest content analysis according to Graneheim and Lundman. Results Students reported feelings of isolation and the lack of opportunities to integrate…
Nursing students' perceptions of combining hands-on simulation with simulated patients and a serious game in preparing for clinical placement in home…
2021
Abstract Background There is a growing demand to provide complex healthcare services in patients' own homes. However, high quality home healthcare clinical placements are often difficult to obtain, and arranging laboratory-based simulations to provide relevant clinical-practical learning experiences for all students is resource intensive. Objectives The aim of this study was to explore nursing students' perceptions of using a blended simulation approach, including hands-on simulation with simulated patients and a video-based serious game, in preparation for their home healthcare clinical placements. Design An exploratory qualitative design using focus group interviews was utilized. Setting …
Trygghet når du trenger det mest : en kvalitativ studie av intensivsykepleieres erfaringer med bruk av CAM-ICU.

Masteroppgave i spesialsykepleie – Universitetet i Agder 2016 Background: 50-90 % of all patients whom is hospitalized in an ICU will suffer from intensive care delirium.
