Capability studies, helpful tools in process quality improvement
2017
Ability of processes to meet customer’quality requirements has become essential for providing competitive advantages such as cost savings, reducing the number of nonconfoming products or increasing customer satisfaction. This paper aims to conduct a capability study for a swaging process (that ensures an assembly dimension) of a key product characteristic (the outer diameter of a new part), related to the concept of capability and performance indices and how these metrics can be used and interpreted to become powerful tools for decision making. To achieve the goal of the paper, the following key aspects were analyzed: capability of the measurement system capability (gage R&R), production eq…
IMPACT OF THE "COMUNICAT" METHODOLOGY ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE "EFFECTIVE ORAL COMMUNICATION" STUDENT OUTCOME OF THE STUDENTS OF THE MASTER IN FOOD …
2019
[EN] During academic course 2017-2018 the Comunica't methodology was created to help students to self-learn all the skills needed to master the areas of domain of the general student outcome effective oral communication. After two academic years of implementation, the goal of this work is to analyse the degree of contribution of this methodology to development of the "Effective Oral Communication students outcome of students that followed the methodology during the subject Audits of Food Safety and Quality Systems, belonging to the Master in Food Safety and Quality Management. To this end, at the beginning of the subject, students were asked to present a topic related to the subject and eva…
Quality Improvement Based on Big Data Analysis
2016
Big data analysis has become an important trend in computer science. Quality improvement is a constant in current industry trends. In this paper, we present an idea of quality improvement based on big data analysis with the aid of linked data and ontologies in order to implement it in the case of automotive parts production. We consider defective automotive products and try to find the best refurbishment solution for them considering their characteristics. Moreover, we propose to develop a recommender system that is able to give recommendations in order to prevent or to alleviate defects and to provide insights for possible causes that led to these defective parts. This study intends to hel…
Quality Indicators in Reference to the Evaluation of the Quality Management of Services in Local Public Administration
2014
Abstract The paper proposes to show evidence in measures of quality through quantification of the level of current performance of an organization, like local public administration, in accordance with performance standards. The evaluation of quality measures the difference between the expected performance and the actual performance, to identify and improve the quality of the local public administration. Standards of performance could be set for different dimensions of quality. For example: the quality of managing documents, the products, processes and services requires the gathering and analysis of information, set in measuring terms. In a few cases the measuring of quality as percentage of …
Assessment of process stability and capability in a manufacturing organization: a case study
2021
Quality is considered asthe principal factor that determines the long-termsuccess or failure of any organization. Organizations perform quality control by monitoring process output using Statistical Quality Control, performed as part of the production process (Statistical Process Control, SPC) or as a final quality control check (Acceptance Sampling).SPC is a major quality management statistical tool and its instruments (control charts and capability analysis) are applied to virtually any type of organization (manufacturing, services or transactions - for example, those involving data, communications, software, or movement of materials). The aim of this paper is to present a case study, rea…

Contributions Regarding the Reduction of Production Costs for Brewing by Recovering and Reusing the Carbon Dioxide
2014
Abstract Nowadays in every field the main aim is to produce corresponding quality products at competitive prices for buyers. In addition to the multiple possibilities to reduce the brewing production cost, one of the most significant ways is to reduce the production cost by recovering the carbon dioxide (CO2) resulting from the fermentation of beer, taking into account the fact that the CO2 thus resulting is completely natural. This scientific paper presents a certain strategy based on costs, strategy which relies on the experience of the authors, on the economic impact of CO2 recovery resulting from the fermentation of beer and which reflects itself in the production cost and implicitly in…
Heterogeneity in general practitioners’ preferences for quality improvement programs: a choice experiment and policy simulation in France
2016
International audience; Despite increasing popularity, quality improvement programs (QIP) have had modest and variable impacts on enhancing the quality of physician practice. We investigate the heterogeneity of physicians’ preferences as a potential explanation of these mixed results in France, where the national voluntary QIP – the CAPI – has been cancelled due to its unpopularity. We rely on a discrete choice experiment to elicit heterogeneity in physicians’ preferences for the financial and non-financial components of QIP. Using mixed and latent class logit models, results show that the two models should be used in concert to shed light on different aspects of the heterogeneity in prefer…
Self-assessment application and learning in organizations: A special reference to the ontological dimension
2003
Quality management self-assessment is a powerful tool for management continuous improvement, and it may foster the process of learning in the organization. In this paper, we identify some links between self-assessment and learning. From the analysis of the learning processes at the three ontological levels--individual, group and organizational--and taking the contributions of Crossan et al. (1999) and Kim (1993) as a reference point, we propose a model of organizational learning. This model explicitly recognizes the importance of group level as a link between individual and organizational levels, and it can be employed in order to analyse the effect of self-assessment application at the dif…
