Effective thermal conductivity of superuid helium: Laminar, turbulent and ballistic regimes
2016
Abstract In this paper we extend previous results on the effective thermal conductivity of liquid helium II in cylindrical channels to rectangular channels with high aspect ratio. The aim is to compare the results in the laminar regime, the turbulent regime and the ballistic regime, all of them obtained within a single mesoscopic formalism of heat transport, with heat flux as an independent variable.
Cyclic fluctuations, climatic changes and role of noise in planktonic foraminifera in the Mediterranean Sea
2005
The study of Planktonic Foraminifera abundances permits to obtain climatic curves on the basis of percentage ratio between tropical and temperate/polar forms. Climatic changes were controlled by several phenomena as: (i) Milankovitch's cycles, produced by variations of astronomical parameters such as precession, obliquity and eccentricity; (ii) continental geodynamic evolution and orogenic belt; (iii) variations of atmospheric and oceanic currents; (iv) volcanic eruptions; (v) meteor impacts. But while astronomical parameters have a quasi-regular periodicity, the other phenomena can be considered as "noise signal" in natural systems. The interplay between cyclical astronomical variations, t…
A study about the practice of te…
2016
A Approach to Clinical Proteomics Data Quality Control and Import
2011
International audience; Biomedical domain and proteomics in particular are faced with an increasing volume of data. The heterogeneity of data sources implies heterogeneity in the representation and in the content of data. Data may also be incorrect, implicate errors and can compromise the analysis of experiments results. Our approach aims to ensure the initial quality of data during import into an information system dedicated to proteomics. It is based on the joint use of models, which represent the system sources, and ontologies, which are use as mediators between them. The controls, we propose, ensure the validity of values, semantics and data consistency during import process.
Influence of structure on the polarizability of hydrated methane sulfonic acid clusters
2015
Abstract: The relationship between polarizability and structure is investigated in methane sulfonic acid (MSA) and in 36 hydrated MSA clusters. The polarizabilities are calculated at B3LYP and MP2 level and further partitioned into molecular contributions using classic and iterative Hirshfeld methods. The differences in the two approaches for partitioning of polarizabilities are thoroughly analyzed. The polarizabilities of the molecules are found to be influenced in a systematic way by the hydrogen bond network in the clusters, proton transfer between MSA and water molecules, and weak interactions between water molecules and the methyl group of MSA.
Parental communication and feelings of affiliation in adolescent aggressors and victims of cyberbullying
2018
Cyberbullying is an increasingly frequent problem among adolescents, and it produces considerable social concern. Using a cross-sectional and quantitative methodology, the main objective of this study was to analyze the differences among students involved in the perpetration and victimization of cyberbullying (non-involved, occasional, and severe), in their parental communication, and feelings of affiliation with classmates. The sample consisted of 849 adolescents (51.7% boys and 48.3% girls) from 12 to 18 years old (M = 14.5
Some Common Fixed Point Results in Cone Metric Spaces
2009
We prove a result on points of coincidence and common fixed points for three self-mappings satisfying generalized contractive type conditions in cone metric spaces. We deduce some results on common fixed points for two self-mappings satisfying contractive type conditions in cone metric spaces. These results generalize some well-known recent results.
A multiplicity theorem for parametric superlinear (p,q)-equations
2020
We consider a parametric nonlinear Robin problem driven by the sum of a \(p\)-Laplacian and of a \(q\)-Laplacian (\((p,q)\)-equation). The reaction term is \((p-1)\)-superlinear but need not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Using variational tools, together with truncation and comparison techniques and critical groups, we show that for all small values of the parameter, the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, all with sign information.
The era of reference genomes in conservation genomics
2022
Progress in genome sequencing now enables the large-scale generation of reference genomes. Various international initiatives aim to generate reference genomes representing global biodiversity. These genomes provide unique insights into genomic diversity and architecture, thereby enabling comprehensive analyses of population and functional genomics, and are expected to revolutionize conservation genomics.
