Peripheral transverse densities of the baryon octet from chiral effective field theory and dispersion analysis

2017

The baryon electromagnetic form factors are expressed in terms of two-dimensional densities describing the distribution of charge and magnetization in transverse space at fixed light-front time. We calculate the transverse densities of the spin-1/2 flavor-octet baryons at peripheral distances b = O(M_\pi^{-1}) using methods of relativistic chiral effective field theory (\chi EFT) and dispersion analysis. The densities are represented as dispersive integrals over the imaginary parts of the form factors in the timelike region (spectral functions). The isovector spectral functions on the two-pion cut t > 4 M_\pi^2 are calculated using relativistic \chi EFT including octet and decuplet baryons.…

On the validity of perturbative studies of the electroweak phase transition in the Two Higgs Doublet model

2019

Abstract Making use of a dimensionally-reduced effective theory at high temperature, we perform a nonperturbative study of the electroweak phase transition in the Two Higgs Doublet model. We focus on two phenomenologically allowed points in the parameter space, carrying out dynamical lattice simulations to determine the equilibrium properties of the transition. We discuss the shortcomings of conventional perturbative approaches based on the resummed effective potential — regarding the insufficient handling of infrared resummation but also the need to account for corrections beyond 1-loop order in the presence of large scalar couplings — and demonstrate that greater accuracy can be achieved …

Search for neutral Higgs bosons decaying into four taus at LEP2

2010

A search for the production and non-standard decay of a Higgs boson, h, into four taus through intermediate pseudoscalars, a, is conducted on 683 pb-1 of data collected by the ALEPH experiment at centre-of-mass energies from 183 to 209 GeV. No excess of events above background is observed, and exclusion limits are placed on the combined production cross section times branching ratio, β2 = σ(e+e -→Zh)/σSM(e+e-→Zh) ×B(h→aa)×B(a→τ+τ-) 2. For mh 1 is excluded at the 95% confidence level.

Baryon resonances in nuclei

2005

The field of baryon resonances in nuclei is reviewed. Theoretical developments and experimental evidence as well are discussed. Special emphasis is laid on electromagnetic processes for the two nucleon system. Some aspects of real isobars in nuclei are touched upon.

Nucleon Form Factor Measurements in Mainz: Past and Future

2007

The form factors of proton and neutron provide a natural and direct insight into their internal structure. They were a main research goal in the nuclear physics program of the Universitat Mainz, which led to some of the most precise measurements to date. This article gives an overview, starting from the very first experiments at the now obsolete linear accelerator and ending at the exhaustive experiments currently underway at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI) facilities.

Prospects for a DVCS measurement at COMPASS

2010

The high energy polarised muon beam available at CERN with the option of using positive or negative muons with opposite polarisation gives COMPASS an excellent possibility to study generalised parton distributions via deeply virtual Compton scattering. In a first step we propose to use an unpolarised proton target to study the slope of the t dependence of the differential cross section as a function of xB j to observe a possible shrinkage of the nucleon with increasing xB j. Furthermore, the beam charge and spin difference will be measured over a wide kinematical range to determine the Compton form factor related to the GPD H. As a second step we consider to use a transversely polarised pro…

Measurement of Kμ30 form factors

2007

Abstract This Letter reports on a new high precision measurement of the form factors of the K L → π ± μ ∓ ν μ decay. The data sample of about 2.3 × 10 6 events was recorded in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at CERN. Studying the Dalitz plot density we measured a linear, λ + ′ = ( 20.5 ± 2.2 stat ± 2.4 syst ) × 10 −3 , and a quadratic, λ + ″ = ( 2.6 ± 0.9 stat ± 1.0 syst ) × 10 −3 term in the power expansion of the vector form factor. No evidence was found for a second order term for the scalar form factor; the linear slope was determined to be λ 0 = ( 9.5 ± 1.1 stat ± 0.8 syst ) × 10 −3 . Using a linear fit our results were: λ + = ( 26.7 ± 0.6 stat ± 0.8 syst ) × 10 −3 and λ 0 = ( 11.7 ± 0.7 s…

Untersuchung der beiden ersten angeregten Zustände des Li6-Kernes durch Elektronenstreuung

1969

Inelastic electron cross sections for Li6 were measured using the facilities at the 300 MeV linear accelerator of the Institut fur Kernphysik in Mainz. The form factor for theC 2 transition to the 2.184 MeV level is given in the region of momentum transfer 0.4 fm−1<q<1.9 fm−1. It was possible to determine the form factor for the 3.562 MeVM 1 transition up toq=1.2 fm−1.

Review of the properties of the 0νβ−β−nuclear matrix elements

2012

In this work we investigate general properties of the nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) related to the neutrinoless double ?? decays (0????? decays) of several nuclei of interest for double-beta-decay experiments. A summary of the values of the NMEs calculated along the years by the Jyv?skyl??La Plata collaboration is given. These NMEs are compared with those of the other available calculations and general conclusions are drawn based on these comparisons.
