Datu noliktavas kā mākoņpakalpojums

2021

A secret sharing scheme for anonymous DNS queries

2013

Since its adoption in the early 90's, several privacy concerns have emerged about the Domain Name System (DNS). By collecting the DNS queries performed by each user, it is possible to characterize habits, interests and other sensitive data of the users. Usually, users resolve their {\em url} requests by querying the DSN server belonging to their Internet Service Provider (ISP) and therefore they assume they can trust it. However, different DNS servers can be used, by revealing sensitive data to a partially untrusted entity that can collect and sell this data for several purposes (target advertising, user profiling, etc.). In this paper we address the possibility to integrate tools in the cu…

Hints from the Crowd: A Novel NoSQL Database

2013

The crowd can be an incredible source of information. In particular, this is true for reviews about products of any kind, freely provided by customers through specialized web sites. In other words, they are social knowledge, that can be exploited by other customers. The Hints From the Crowd HFC prototype, presented in this paper, is a NoSQL database system for large collections of product reviews; the database is queried by expressing a natural language sentence; the result is a list of products ranked based on the relevance of reviews w.r.t. the natural language sentence. The best ranked products in the result list can be seen as the best hints for the user based on crowd opinions the revi…

Quantum algorithms for search with wildcards and combinatorial group testing

2012

We consider two combinatorial problems. The first we call "search with wildcards": given an unknown n-bit string x, and the ability to check whether any subset of the bits of x is equal to a provided query string, the goal is to output x. We give a nearly optimal O(sqrt(n) log n) quantum query algorithm for search with wildcards, beating the classical lower bound of Omega(n) queries. Rather than using amplitude amplification or a quantum walk, our algorithm is ultimately based on the solution to a state discrimination problem. The second problem we consider is combinatorial group testing, which is the task of identifying a subset of at most k special items out of a set of n items, given the…

Query expansion and semantic visualization in information system cooperations : methods and tools for information retrieval

2010

This thesis presents approaches and tools for information retrieval. Our work is part of a cooperation system based on ontologies called OWSCIS (Ontology and Web Service based Cooperation of Information Sources). We treat the problem of information retrieval by providing an enrichment method called QUEXME (QUery EXpansion MEthod) of queries based on analysis of user behavior and using the concept importance notion with regards to query. We also discussed the problem of visualization in the OWSCIS system offering a architecture of service visualization. It is composed of three modules: the request, enrichment and results. The approaches proposed in this thesis have been prototyped and the te…

Tīmekļa lietotņu lietotāja saskarnes bibliotēku analīze

2017

Tīmeklī ir pieejamas daudz maksas un bezmaksas tīmekļa lietotņu lietotāju saskarnes bibliotēkas, taču to piedāvātais komponenšu klāsts, iespējas un funkcijas atšķiras, līdz ar to izstrādātājiem jāvelta laiks atbilstošas bibliotēkas atrašanai. Maģistra darba ietvaros tiek veikta vairāku maksas un bezmaksas tīmekļa lietotņu lietotāju saskarnes bibliotēku analīze. Tiek aplūkoti sekojošie parametri: komponenšu piedāvājums, izskats, mobilo ierīču atbalsts, bibliotēku ātrdarbība, komponenšu vizuālā stila nomaiņas iespējas. Bezmaksas bibliotēkām tiek piedāvāti nelieli lietojumprogrammu piemēri. Darba rezultātā tiek iegūtas vadlīnijas, kas atvieglo tīmekļu lietotņu izstrādātāju izvēli par labu kāda…

Spoken conversational context improves query auto-completion in web search

2021

Web searches often originate from conversations in which people engage before they perform a search. Therefore, conversations can be a valuable source of context with which to support the search process. We investigate whether spoken input from conversations can be used as a context to improve query auto-completion. We model the temporal dynamics of the spoken conversational context preceding queries and use these models to re-rank the query auto-completion suggestions. Data were collected from a controlled experiment and comprised conversations among 12 participant pairs conversing about movies or traveling. Search query logs during the conversations were recorded and temporally associated…

Graphical modeling and query language for hospitals

2013

Abstract Background So far there has been little evidence that implementation of the health information technologies (HIT) is leading to health care cost savings. One of the reasons for this lack of impact by the HIT likely lies in the complexity of the business process ownership in the hospitals. The goal of our research is to develop a business model-based method for hospital use which would allow doctors to retrieve directly the ad-hoc information from various hospital databases. Methods We have developed a special domain-specific process modelling language called the MedMod. Formally, we define the MedMod language as a profile on UML Class diagrams, but we also demonstrate it on example…

Integrating Keyword Advertising and Dynamic Pricing for an Online Market Place

2014

Keyword Advertising is a main marketing instrument for e-commerce companies in order to generate traffic from search engines on their website. The costs for Keyword Advertising are determined in an auction that is conducted for every single search query, which is entered in by a user. In case of an online market place, each adlink provided by the search engine refers to an ordered list of products on the website of the online market place. Hereby, the price of the product is oftentimes one important criteria for the user when deciding for one or the other product from the list. However, existing models assume the price of products to be exogeneous. By taking into account the prices of linke…

Properties and application of nondeterministic quantum query algorithms

2006

Many quantum algorithms can be analyzed in a query model to compute Boolean functions where input is given by a black box. As in the classical version of decision trees, different kinds of quantum query algorithms are possible: exact, zero-error, bounded-error and even nondeterministic. In this paper, we study the latter class of algorithms. We introduce a fresh notion in addition to already studied nondeterministic algorithms and introduce dual nondeterministic quantum query algorithms. We examine properties of such algorithms and prove relations with exact and nondeterministic quantum query algorithm complexity. As a result and as an example of the application of discovered properties, we…
