The source of chemical elements dissolved in rainwater can be both natural and anthropogenic. A group of trace elements has been recently brought to attention for their possible environmental impacts, the Technology-critical elements (TCEs). The current knowledge about the geochemical cycle of TCEs is still scarce, nevertheless recent studies [e.g. Brugnone et al., 2020] evidenced a contribution from the volcanic activity for some of them (Te, Tl, and REE). Audzēja ekstracelulāro vezikulu uzņemšana monocītu šūnās un ietekme uz tām

Audzēju sekretētās ekstracelulārās vezikulas (EV) ir viens no komunikācijas veidiem starp audzēju šūnām un mikrovidi. Audzēju mikrovidē līdzdarbojas vairākas šūnas, tajā skaitā arī makrofāgi un monocīti. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt kolorektālā audzēja SW480 un SW620 šūnu līniju normoksijas un hipoksijas apstākļos sekretēto EV uzņemšanu THP-1 šūnu līnijas monocītos un ietekmi uz tiem. Darbā tika pielietotas plūsmas citometrijas, fluorescentās un fāžu kontrasta mikroskopijas metodes. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka THP-1 šūnas uzņem EV kaveolīna atkarīgās endocitozes ceļā. Effects of Caulerpa cylindracea on marine biodiversity

The Mediterranean sea is an important hotspot for alien species. Following habitat loss, Invasive Alien Species (IAS) are considered to be amongst the most serious threats to biodiversity and natural ecosystem functioning. Among the IAS recorded in the Mediterranean sea, Caulerpa cylindracea Sonder, introduced from Australia and New Caledonia, has raised serious concern due to its negative impact on native communities. We provide some observations on the effects of the presence of C. cylindracea on the communities living along the coasts of the Island of Favignana (Egadi Islands, Marine Protected Areas).

Le infiorescenze di cavolfiore vengono raccolte mentre sono totalmente immature, il che implica gravi cambiamenti nello stato dei nutrienti, dell'acqua e degli ormoni.
