Because of the dynamic history of Silesia and the related heterogeneity of its population, the problem of national identity in this region was and still is a very sensitive issue. His character, Haroun, who is a brother of the Arab killed in The Stranger by Camus, is in the quest for his identity. Being traumatized by his mother’s hold over him, he learns French in order to be able to express his disappointment over the world and his country where he feels as a stranger.

The 70 eV and mass-analysed ion kinetic energy (MIKE) spectra of some thiophenecarboxanilides and benzoylanilides (1–10) have been compared in order to investigate the role of the aroyl (or heteroaroyl) moiety on the abundance of the competitive fragmentation reactions occurring in their molecular ions (amide–bond cleavage and phenol radical ion formation). Tämä tutkielma käsittelee sukupuolen rakentumista oppikoulujen koulukurissa 1800–1900- lukujen vaihteessa. Lähdeaineistona on käytetty Tampereen suomalaisen tyttökoulun, Kuopion suomalaisen yhteiskoulun ja Jyväskylän lyseon rangaistuskirjoja ja opettajankokousten pöytäkirjoja. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa on tarkasteltu koulujen matrikkeliteoksia ja koulukuria määritellyttä lainsäädäntöä.
