Plagio en trabajos académicos: diagnóstico y prevención

2020

Frazeologizmy v demotivatorah

2008

The article presents new compound words, which are frequently a verbal component of internet polycode texts, i.e. demotivators. Demotivators, i.e. pictures combining graphics or photo and ironie commentary, were at first a response to motivational posters, whose task was to encourage people to work or learn. In the virtual world demotivators comment on current events or mock everyday nonsense. They are such a solidified genre that some of the commentaries used in demotivators can be perceived as phraseological neologisms.

Droplet digital PCR as a tool for investigating dynamics of cryptic symbionts

2021

Abstract Interactions among symbiotic organisms and their hosts are major drivers of ecological and evolutionary processes. Monitoring the infection patterns among natural populations and identifying factors affecting these interactions are critical for understanding symbiont–host relationships. However, many of these interactions remain understudied since the knowledge about the symbiont species is lacking, which hinders the development of appropriate tools. In this study, we developed a digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) assay based on apicomplexan COX1 gene to detect an undescribed agamococcidian symbiont. We show that the method gives precise and reproducible results and enables detecting cryp…

Mechanism of sulfur transfer across protein-protein interfaces: The cysteine desulfurase model system

2016

CsdA cysteine desulfurase (the sulfur donor) and the CsdE sulfur acceptor are involved in biological sulfur trafficking and in iron-sulfur cluster assembly in the model bacterium Escherichia coli. CsdA and CsdE form a stable complex through a polar interface that includes CsdA Cys328 and CsdE Cys61, the two residues known to be involved in the sulfur transfer reaction. Although mechanisms for the transfer of a sulfur moiety across protein-protein interfaces have been proposed based on the IscS-IscU and IscS-TusA structures, the flexibility of the catalytic cysteine loops involved has precluded a high resolution view of the active-site geometry and chemical environment for sulfur transfer. H…

Analysis of the Cellular Roles of MOCS3 Identifies a MOCS3-Independent Localization of NFS1 at the Tips of the Centrosome

2019

The deficiency of the molybdenum cofactor (Moco) is an autosomal recessive disease, which leads to the loss of activity of all molybdoenzymes in humans with sulfite oxidase being the essential protein. Moco deficiency generally results in death in early childhood. Moco is a sulfur-containing cofactor synthesized in the cytosol with the sulfur being provided by a sulfur relay system composed of the L-cysteine desulfurase NFS1, MOCS3, and MOCS2A. Human MOCS3 is a dual-function protein that was shown to play an important role in Moco biosynthesis and in the mcm(5)s(2) U thio modifications of nucleosides in cytosolic tRNAs for Lys, Gln, and Glu. In this study, we constructed a homozygous MOCS3 …

Iron Induces Proliferation and Morphogenesis in Primmorphs from the Marine SpongeSuberites domuncula

2002

Dissociated cells from marine demosponges retain their proliferation capacity if they are allowed to form special aggregates, the primmorphs. On the basis of incorporation studies and septin gene expression, we show that Fe3+ ions are required for the proliferation of cells in primmorphs from Suberites domuncula. In parallel, Fe3+ induced the expression of ferritin and strongly stimulated the synthesis of spicules. This result is supported by the finding that the enzymatic activity of silicatein, converting organosilicon to silicic acid, depends on Fe3+. Moreover, the expression of a scavenger receptor molecule, possibly involved in the morphology of spicules, depends on the presence of Fe3…

Prolin-benzylester als chirale Hilfsgruppen in asymmetrischen 1,3-dipolaren Cycloadditionen mit Nitriloxiden

1990

Proline Benzyl Esters as Chiral Auxiliaries in Asymmetric 1,3-Dipolar Cycloadditions N-Acryloylproline benzyl ester (1b) reacts with nitrile oxides at temperatures from −78 to 0°C to give isoxazolines 4/5 with diastereomeric ratios of ca. 3:1 and with the (5S) isomer as the predominating. The corresponding N-methacryloylproline benzyl ester (1c) gives inferior results. The diastereoselectivity is not influenced by the temperature and the substituents of the nitrile oxides. To prove the absolute configuration of the predominating stereoisomer, a reaction sequence is developed which makes use of an enantioselective hydrolysis with pig liver esterase as the key step to generate an optically ac…

Role of glutathione in the formation of the active form of the oxygen sensor FNR ([4Fe-4S]·FNR) and in the control of FNR function

2000

The oxygen sensor regulator FNR (fumarate nitrate reductase regulator) of Escherichia coli is known to be inactivated by O2 as the result of conversion of a [4Fe-4S] cluster of the protein into a [2Fe-2S] cluster. Further incubation with O2 causes loss of the [2Fe-2S] cluster and production of apoFNR. The reactions involved in cluster assembly and reductive activation of apoFNR isolated under anaerobic or aerobic conditions were studied in vivo and in vitro. In a gshA mutant of E. coli that was completely devoid of glutathione, the O2 tension for the regulatory switch for FNR-dependent gene regulation was decreased by a factor of 4–5 compared with the wild-type, suggesting a role for glutat…

Action-Depicting Gestures and Morphosyntax: The Function of Gesture-Speech Alignment in the Conversational Turn

2021

The current study examines the role of action-depicting gestures in conversational turns by focusing on their semantic characteristics and temporal position in relation to their verbal affiliates (action verbs or more complex verb phrases). The data are video recordings of naturally occurring interactions in multilingual construction sites in Norway. The analysis distinguishes two modes of action depiction: generic depictions, which represent the action as a general type, and contextualized depictions, which in addition include deictic references to the spatio-material environment or iconic representations of the specific manner of action performance. These two modes typically occupy differ…
