The advanced use of mobile phones in five European countries

The paper explores the advanced users of mobile phones in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the UK (EU5 countries) and aims to clarify the social meaning of advanced use. The mobile phone is seen as a strategic tool of social labour, whose capabilities are exploited to a different extent in the five studied countries. The analysis is based on a cross-national survey data collected in 2009 (N = 7,255). First, the results show that there are substantial differences in the advanced use of mobile phone and its predictors in Europe. Oxygen isotope (δ18O) sclerochronology of benthic marine molluscs provides a means of reconstructing the seasonal range in seafloor temperature, subject to use of an appropriate equation relating shell δ18O to temperature and water δ18O, a reasonably accurate estimation of water δ18O, and due consideration of growth-rate effects. Taking these factors into account, δ18O data from late Pliocene bivalves of the southern North Sea basin (Belgium and the Netherlands) indicate a seasonal seafloor range a little smaller than now in the area. Consumer Motivations for Click-and-Collect and Home Delivery in Online Shopping

Multichannel retailers are implementing cross-shopping options such as click-and-collect with the objective of better serving their customers. When consumers shop online to multichannel retailers they usually can choose between home delivery or click-and-collect (delivery at a nearby store). In this paper we investigate the consumers’ motivations behind this choice. Our results reveal that click-and-collect is explained by higher hedonic orientation whereas home delivery is explained by convenience orientation. Immediate gratification, and perceived delivery risk do not play a significant role in the choice.

Die Strategien zur Risikostratifizierung und risikoadaptierten Diagnostik und Therapie von Patienten mit akuter Lungenembolie befinden sich derzeit in einer Phase des Umbruchs. Fur die neuen europaischen Leitlinien, die Mitte des Jahres 2014 erscheinen sollen, werden umfangreiche Uberarbeitungen unter anderem auch hinsichtlich der Indikation zur Thrombolyse bei normotensiven Patienten mit „intermediarem“ Risiko erwartet. In diesem Artikel werden die Empfehlungen zur Thrombolyse bei Patienten mit akuter Lungenembolie zusammengefasst unter besonderer Berucksichtigung aktueller Studiendaten zur thrombolytischen Therapie bei Patienten mit „intermediarem“ Risiko.

Coronary artery calcium score on low-dose computed tomography for lung cancer screening

Aim: To evaluate the feasibility of coronary artery calcium score (CACS) on low-dose non-gated chest CT (ngCCT). Methods: Sixty consecutive individuals (30 males; 73 ± 7 years) scheduled for risk stratification by means of unenhanced ECG-triggered cardiac computed tomography (gCCT) underwent additional unenhanced ngCCT. All CT scans were performed on a 64-slice CT scanner (Somatom Sensation 64 Cardiac, Siemens, Germany).
