Systematic Assessment of MODTRAN Emulators for Atmospheric Correction

Atmospheric radiative transfer models (RTMs) simulate the light propagation in the Earth's atmosphere. With the evolution of RTMs, their increase in complexity makes them impractical in routine processing such as atmospheric correction. To overcome their computational burden, standard practice is to interpolate a multidimensional lookup table (LUT) of prestored simulations. However, accurate interpolation relies on large LUTs, which still implies large computation times for their generation and interpolation. Although liraglutide is widely recognized to have glycemic and extra-glycemic effects, few studies have compared these effects in relation to hypoglycemic treatment starting from the diagnosis of diabetes. We evaluated the effectiveness of liraglutide in reducing the Framingham risk score (FRS) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) in relation to first-line hypoglycemic treatment from diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, continued without any changes.We selected 105 diabetic outpatients who were treated with liraglutide for at least 48 months as an add-on therapy to metformin alone (group A, n = 52) or insulin secretagogues (group B, n = 53) from diagnosis time.Although both groups showed a reduction…

An Adaptive Robust Predictive Current Control for Three-Phase Grid-Connected Inverters

This paper presents an adaptive robust predictive current control (RPCC) for grid-connected three-phase inverters that exhibit zero steady-state current error. The error correction is achieved by means of an adaptive strategy that works in parallel with the deadbeat algorithm, therefore preserving the typical fast response of the predictive law. The resulting control adapts to any particular L or LCL filter by estimation of the resistive part of the filter. As a variety of the RPCC class of control, it offers the best tradeoff between robustness and speed. © 2009 IEEE.

A new bi-faced log periodic printed antenna

In this paper, a new design of a broadband planar printed antenna based on the academic log periodic antenna is presented. The antenna consists of a series of printed dipoles, distributed on both faces of the substrate. Some configurations are explored, with a different number of printed dipoles. These are designed, simulated, fabricated, and measured. The calculated and measured return losses and radiation patterns are presented. The utility of the proposed antenna associated with its frequency bandwidth is better than 80%. The measured absolute gain is 6.5 dBi, and the front-to-back ratio is around 8 dB. Analysis of Offshore Knuckle Boom Crane - Part One: Modeling and Parameter Identification

This paper presents an extensive model of a knuckle boom crane used for pipe handling on offshore drilling rigs. The mechanical system is modeled as a multi-body system and includes the structural flexibility and damping. The motion control system model includes the main components of the crane's electro-hydraulic actuation system. For this a novel black-box model for counterbalance valves is presented, which uses two different pressure ratios to compute the flow through the valve. Reconfigurable dualband antenna module with integrated high voltage charge pump and digital analog converter

Integration of a reconfigurable antenna module for handheld applications employing a set of novel technologies is demonstrated. A low profile dualband hybrid dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) based on glass-ceramics and a tunable matching network (TMN) based on ferroelectric varactors with a maximum biasing of 90V form a reconfigurable antenna module. The control of the antenna module is performed by a 120V CMOS high voltage (HV) charge pump with an 8-bit digital analog (D/A) converter generated from a 3.7V battery. This paper focuses on the evaluation of the performances of three different antenna sensors suitable of Partial Discharge (PD) measurements. Monopole, triangular and spherical antennas were simulated by means of the surface moment method. Controlling a Power Factor Corrected (PFC) boost converter is not a trivial task, because the higher the dynamic performance, the higher is the input current distortion.
