Noise Analysis and Comparison of Phase-and Frequency-Detecting Readout Systems: Application to SAW Delay Line Magnetic Field Sensor

2019

International audience; Transmission surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors are widely used in various fields of application. In order to improve the limit of detection (LOD) of such sensor systems, it is essential to understand and quantify the relevant noise sources. Only then, strategies for noise reduction can be developed. In this paper, low noise readout systems for the application with SAW sensors in an open-loop and a closed-loop configuration are presented and experimentally investigated with regard to their phase noise on the example of a SAW delay line magnetic field sensor. Besides a comprehensive analysis of the phaseand frequency modulated signals, respectively, previously derive…

Prediction of hydraulic and acoustic properties of open-graded mixes

2014

The use of open-graded mixes increases significantly the hydraulic permeability of pavement and contributes to reduce the noise impact in comparison to traditional pavement. Such characteristics are very appealing and would greatly increase driver's safety. However, during service life, the pores tend to be clogged by many factors among them secondary traffic compaction and filling of voids by fine materials are relevant, especially on heavy routes. In this case the noise reduction and drainage capabilities will gradually disappear, causing serious problems for road safety and maintenance. In this paper we propose a simulation approach in order to predict the drainage and acoustic behavior …

Strategia redukcji szkód w pracy z osobami uzależnionymi od narkotyków i alkoholu

2016

Sequential Iron-Catalyzed C(sp2)–C(sp3) Cross-Coupling of Chlorobenzamides/Chemoselective Amide Reduction and Reductive Deuteration to Benzylic Alcoh…

2023

Benzylic alcohols are among the most important intermediates in organic synthesis. Recently, the use of abundant metals has attracted significant attention due to the issues with the scarcity of platinum group metals. Herein, we report a sequential method for the synthesis of benzylic alcohols by a merger of iron catalyzed cross-coupling and highly chemoselective reduction of benzamides promoted by sodium dispersion in the presence of alcoholic donors. The method has been further extended to the synthesis of deuterated benzylic alcohols. The iron-catalyzed Kumada cross-coupling exploits the high stability of benzamide bonds, enabling challenging C(sp2)–C(sp3) cross-coupling with alkyl Grign…

Synthesis of highly functionalized β-aminocyclopentanecarboxylate stereoisomers by reductive ring opening reaction of isoxazolines

2012

A rapid and simple procedure was devised for the synthesis of multifunctionalized cyclic β-amino esters and γ-amino alcohols via the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides to β-aminocyclopentenecarboxylates. The opening of the isoxazoline reductive ring to the corresponding highly functionalized 2-aminocyclopentanecarboxylates occurred stereoselectively with good yields.

Ultrasound assisted method to increase soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) of sewage sludge for digestion

2004

The aim of this study was to clarify the possibilities to increase the amount of soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) and methane production of sludge using ultrasound technologies with and without oxidising agents. The study was done using multivariate data analyses. The most important factors affected were discovered. Ultrasonically assisted disintegration increased clearly the amount of SCOD of sludge. Also more methane was produced from treated sludge in anaerobic batch assays compared to the sludge with no ultrasonic treatment. Multivariate data analysis showed that ultrasonic power, dry solid content of sludge (DS), sludge temperature and ultrasonic treatment time have the most signi…

Sterol oxidation in ready-to-eat infant foods during storage.

2008

The effect of storage on sterol oxidation of ready-to-eat infant foods was evaluated. Two different flavor (honey -LH- or fruits-LF-) liquid infant foods, prepared with milk and cereals, were stored for 0, 2, 4, 7 and 9 months, at 25ºC. Sterol oxidation products (SOP) were extracted by cold saponification, purified by silica solid-phase and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry. -sitosterol was the most representative sterol, followed by cholesterol and campesterol. No significant differences in the total and single SOP content (0.8-1 mg/kg of product) were observed with respect to storage time and type of sample; the main SOP found was 7-ketositosterol (< …

Development of anode supported Single Chamber Solid Oxide Fuel Cells running in air/methane mixture

2013

International audience; Single Chamber Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SCFC) show a growing interest and are the concern of more and more papers. In such device, anode and cathode are ex-posed to a gas mixture of fuel (hydrocarbon) and oxidant (air) so that no more sealing with electrolyte is necessary. Their operating principle is based on the different catalytic activities of anode and cathode: Ideally, the anode has to be active for the oxidation of fuel while the cathode should present only a strong electro-activity for oxygen reduction. In this paper, we present the development of an anode supported SCFC device running in air/methane mixture characterized by their volume ratio, Rmix = CH4/O2.

Oxidation Processes in Sicilian Olive Oils Investigated by a Combination of Optical and EPR Spectroscopy

2012

:  Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is recognized as one of the healthiest foods for its high content of antioxidants, which forestall and slow down radical formation. Free radical-initiated oxidation is considered one of the main causes of rancidity in fats and oils. As a consequence, reliable protocols for the investigation of oil oxidation based on selective, noninvasive, and fast methods are highly desirable. Here we report an experimental approach based on UV-Vis absorbance, steady-state fluorescence, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy for studying oxidation processes induced by temperature for a period up to 35 d on Sicilian EVOO samples. We followed the decrease in β…
