Abstract Reflectance spectroscopy provides an alternate method to non-destructively characterize key soil properties. Hyperspectral imaging and distance data have previously been used in aerial, forestry, agricultural, and medical imaging applications. Extracting meaningful information from a combination of different imaging modalities is difficult, as the image sensor fusion requires knowing the optical properties of the sensors, selecting the right optics and finding the sensors’ mutual reference frame through calibration. Assessment of MODIS imagery to track light-use efficiency in a water-limited Mediterranean pine forest

Abstract Daily values of gross primary production ( GPP ) derived from an eddy-covariance flux tower have been used to analyze the information content of the MODIS Photochemical Reflectance Index ( PRI ) on the light-use efficiency ( e ). The study has been conducted in a Mediterranean Pinus pinaster forest showing summer water stress. Advanced processing techniques have been used to analyze the effect of various external factors on e and PRI temporal variations. Coupled Semiconductor Systems for Photocatalysis. Preparation and Characterization of Polycrystalline Mixed WO3/WS2 Powders

Mixed WO3/WS2 powders were prepared by oxidation of WS2. The physical properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy; they were strongly dependent upon the time and temperature of oxidation. The chemical state and the elemental distribution of the sample surface were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The photocatalytic results have showed that the aqueous suspensions of the mixed WO3/WS2 systems have significantly higher activities than pure WS2 and WO3 for the photodegradation of phenol. Water detection in skin by dual-band photodiodes

Purpose of this study was to develop a simple model for possibilities to detect water in skin by diffuse reflectance spectra. The model is based on comparison of diffuse reflectance spectra when illuminating water sample with LEDs of different wavelengths (1200 nm, and 1450 nm). The illumination LEDs were chosen due to water absorption differences in near-infrared spectral range. For detection, dual-band photodiode DSD2 by Thorlabs was used. Due to differences of water absorption at different wavelengths in the near-infrared spectral region, this correlation could be used for mapping of water content in skin or, in other words, determine relative moisture level in skin.
