Matrix-mediated canal formation in primmorphs from the sponge Suberites domuncula involves the expression of a CD36 receptor-ligand system.

Sponges (Porifera), represent the phylogenetically oldest metazoan phylum still extant today. Recently, molecular biological studies provided compelling evidence that these animals share basic receptor/ligand systems, especially those involved in bodyplan formation and in immune recognition, with the higher metazoan phyla. An in vitro cell/organ-like culture system, the primmorphs, has been established that consists of proliferating and differentiating cells, but no canals of the aquiferous system. Background The induction of tolerance may be a promising target of strategies aimed at preventing harmful allergic diseases. Low zone tolerance (LZT), induced by epicutaneous application of low doses of contact allergens, inhibits the development of T C 1-mediated contact hypersensitivity (CHS). CD4 monoclonal antibody VIT4 in human alloimmune response in vitro and in vivo.

In the present report the immunosuppressive effects of the murine anti-human CD4 monoclonal antibody (mAb) VIT4 on human alloimmune response in vitro were analyzed. Moreover, the antibody was tested for its activity to prolong allograft survival in seven patients with steroid-refractory allograft rejection. VIT4 inhibited the proliferative response to alloantigens in the mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) in a dose-dependent manner. At concentrations of 1 and 10 micrograms/ml VIT4 blocked MLR by 55 +/- 11% and 77 +/- 1%, respectively. Regulatory activity of human CD4 CD25 T cells depends on allergen concentration, type of allergen and atopy status of the donor.

Regulatory CD4+ CD25+ FoxP3-positive T cells (Treg) are functional in most atopic patients with allergic rhinitis and are able to inhibit T helper type 1 (Th1) and Th2 cytokine production of CD4+ CD25- T cells. The functional properties of dendritic cells (DCs) are strictly dependent on their maturational state. To analyze the influence of the maturational state of DCs on priming and differentiation of T cells, immature CD83− and mature CD83+ human DCs were used for stimulation of naive, allogeneic CD4+ T cells. Repetitive stimulation with mature DCs resulted in a strong expansion of alloreactive T cells and the exclusive development of T helper type 1 (Th1) cells. Use of CD64 for the diagnosis of sepsis: a case-control study.

Spectral function for overoccupied gluodynamics from real-time lattice simulations

We study the spectral properties of a highly occupied non-Abelian non-equilibrium plasma appearing ubiquitously in weak coupling descriptions of QCD matter. The spectral function of this far-from-equilibrium plasma is measured by employing linear response theory in classical-statistical real-time lattice Yang-Mills simulations. We establish the existence of transversely and longitudinally polarized quasiparticles and obtain their dispersion relations, effective mass, plasmon frequency, damping rate and further structures in the spectral and statistical functions. Correlated gluonic hot spots meet symmetric cumulants data at LHC energies

We present a systematic study on the influence of spatial correlations between the proton constituents, in our case gluonic hot spots, their size and their number on the symmetric cumulant SC(2, 3), at the eccentricity level, within a Monte Carlo Glauber framework [1]. When modeling the proton as composed by 3 gluonic hot spots, the most common assumption in the literature, we find that the inclusion of spatial correlations is indispensable to reproduce the negative sign of SC(2, 3) in the highest centrality bins as dictated by data.
