Usage assignment of the residence in the cases of familiar crises: commentary on the article 6 Valencian Law of familiar relations

2015

En este trabajo se analiza la regulación valenciana respecto a la atribución del uso de la vivienda familiar, tomando en consideración las sentencias dictadas en aplicación del art. 6 de la Ley de relaciones familiares. In this paper we study the Valencian regulation with regard to the assignment of the usage of the familiar residence, taking in consideration the judgments dictated in application of the article 6 law of familiar relations.

Induction of Secondary Metabolites from the Marine-Derived Fungus Aspergillus versicolor through Co-cultivation with Bacillus subtilis

2019

AbstractA new cyclic pentapeptide, cotteslosin C (1), a new aflaquinolone, 22-epi-aflaquinolone B (3), and two new anthraquinones (9 and 10), along with thirty known compounds (2, 4 – 8, 11 – 34) were isolated from a co-culture of the sponge-associated fungus Aspergillus versicolor with Bacillus subtilis. The new metabolites were only detected in the co-culture extract, but not when the fungus was grown under axenic conditions. Furthermore, the co-culture extract exhibited an enhanced accumulation of the known constituents versicolorin B (14), averufin (16), and sterigmatocyctin (19) by factors of 1.5, 2.0, and 4.7, respectively, compared to the axenic fungal culture. The structures of the …

Ferricytochrome c encapsulated in silica nanoparticles: structural stability and functional properties.

2004

Using a modified sol-gel technique, we have succeeded in encapsulating ferric cytochrome c in silica nanoparticles obtained from hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetramethylorthosilicate. Particles dimensions have been determined with dynamic light scattering; this technique yields an hydrodynamic radius of about 100 nm, each nanoparticle containing about 10(2)-10(3) proteins. If stored in the cold at low ionic strength, nanoparticles are stable for more than one week, even if a slow radius increase with time is observed. CD measurements show that encapsulated proteins exhibit substantially increased stability against guanidinium hydrochloride induced denaturation. Reduction kinetics of e…

New benzothieno[3,2-d]-1,2,3-triazines with antiproliferative activity: synthesis, spectroscopic studies, and biological activity.

2014

New benzothieno[3,2-d]-1,2,3-triazines, together with precursors triazenylbenzo[b]thiophenes, were designed, synthesized and screened as anticancer agents. The structural features of these compounds prompted us to investigate their DNA binding capability through UV–vis absorption titrations, circular dichroism, and viscometry, pointing out the occurrence of groove-binding. The derivative 3-(4-methoxy-phenyl)benzothieno[3,2-d]-1,2,3-triazin-4(3H)-one showed the highest antiproliferative effect against HeLa cells and was also tested in cell cycle perturbation experiments. The obtained results assessed for the first time the anticancer activity of benzothieno[3,2-d]-1,2,3-triazine nucleus, and…

Binding of several phenothiazine neuroleptics to a common binding site of alpha 1-acid glycoprotein, orosomucoid.

1983

The interaction of several phenothiazine neuroleptics with alpha 1-acid glycoprotein was investigated using circular dichroism and equilibrium dialysis techniques. For chlorpromazine only, one high-affinity binding site of the protein was found. The binding of the drug to this single site generated typical polyphasic extrinsic Cotton effects. Since several other phenothiazine neuroleptics gave qualitatively comparable extrinsic Cotton effects in the presence of alpha 1-acid glycoprotein and potently inhibited the binding of chlorpromazine to the single site, it was concluded that all phenothiazine derivatives investigated bound preferentially to only one common binding site of the alpha 1-a…

Institutions, crises, and political confidence in seven contemporary democracies. An elite-mass analysis

2017

There is ample consensus in the literature that institutional confidence by the public is needed in democracies and at the same time elites, particularly political elites, need to share this confidence in their guidance of state institutions, if political stability in established democracies and the consolidation of new democracies are desired. The research takes the form of a quantitative analysis based on the World Values Surveys and the elite surveys (parliamentarians) conducted in 2006 (before the financial crisis) and in 2012–2013 (post the crisis when apparently, the worst of the economic crunch had lessened up) in the 7 countries selected. We explore what lies at the base of politica…

The role of civil society organisations in European responsible research and innovation

2018

EC policy reveals a strong conviction that CSO’s main function in EU-funded research and innovation projects is to take care of the ‘societal perspective’, which would not be adequately represented otherwise. With this, CSOs are supposed to be the main advocates of RRI in project consortia and are supported by all kinds of EC policy measures to fulfil this role. This conviction is not only problematic due to definition problems concerning CSO as such. Empirical data about the role of CSOs in high-tech/high-innovation research projects and the distribution of RRI activities among consortia members reveal that the role of CSOs is much more multi-faceted (data providers, providers of access to…

Online environmental activism and Internet use in the Indonesian environmental movement

2013

Author's version of an article in the journal: Information Development. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/0266666913485260 This article investigates the use of the Internet among Indonesian environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) and how this use influences the mobilizing structure of the environmental movement. The discussion is informed by an explorative study of nineteen Indonesian ENGOs working in the domain of forest protection. The study reveals that the Internet empowers the environmental activism of these organizations by enhancing opportunities for political participation. A main finding in the article is that well-established organization…
