Whether gaming has a beneficial or detrimental effect on young people's lives is a defining feature in both the research and the public discussion of youth digital gaming. In this qualitative study, we draw from a thematic analysis of the experiences of 180 game players in Finland, aged 15–25 years. Utilizing the digital gaming relationship (DGR) theory, we explore how different aspects of gaming actualize in their lives, and how different features of gaming culture participation come together to form their experience. Through the analysis of texts written between the 4th century BC and the 2nd century AD, the article reconstructs the emergence in ancient Greece of two opposing paradigms of the doctor-patient relationship, one based on dialogue and persuasion (peithó), and the other on the imposition of authority. In particular, the latter model proves to be amply suited to illustrating, in various Greek literature texts – and first of all the political dialogues of Plato –, the relationship between those who hold political power and those subjected to it. The concept of ‘direct applicability’ and ‘self-executing’ nature of international norms is still object of intense debate in the international legal scholarship. In Italy, such a debate has attracted new attention in the light of a recent ruling of the Joint Sections of the Court of Cassation, according to which the norms enshrined in the European Convention of Human Rights are not directly applicable in domestic proceedings. Šajā maģistra darbā tika pētītas cilvēku un materiālo lietu attiecības izmantojot Latvijā esošo labdarības veikalu tīkla “Otra Elpa ” gadījuma analīzi. Par galveno pētniecisko jautājumu tika izvirzīts: kādi ir biežāk sastopamākie attiecību veidi starp cilvēkiem un to vai kāda cita izmantotām materiālām mantām. Lai atbildētu uz pētniecisko jautājumu, darba ietvaros tika apzināta esošā literatūra, veiktas aptaujas un intervijas, lai noskaidrotu kādi ir biežāk sastopamākie iemesli, domas un apeja ar materiālām lietām, kuras tie ziedo vai iegādājas “Otra Elpa” labdarības veikalu tīklā. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt, vai pastāv saistība starp pāra attiecību kvalitāti un konfliktu risināšanas stiliem pāra attiecībās sievietēm un vīriešiem. Izpētē piedalījās 96 respondenti vecumā no 25 – 35 gadiem, iedalot sieviešu (n=66; SD=2,93) un vīriešu (n=30; SD=2,30) grupu. Pētījums ir neeksperimentāls, korelatīvi aprakstošs. Bakalaura darba pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot kāda saistība pastāv starp bērnības piesaistes attiecību un dzīvesspēka raksturojošiem faktoriem jauniešu vecumā. Pētījuma jautājums ir kādas saistības pastāv starp bērnības piesaistes attiecību un dzīvesspēku raksturojošiem faktoriem jauniešu vecumā. Adolescents’ and mothers’ temperament types and their roles in early adolescents’ socioemotional functioning

The present study examined adolescents’ and mothers’ temperament types and their roles in the socioemotional functioning of early adolescents. A total of 869 sixth-grade students and 668 mothers participated in the study. The students rated their temperament and socioemotional functioning and the mothers rated their own temperament. Latent profile analyses identified four temperament types among the adolescents (resilient, reserved, average, and mixed) and three types among the mothers (resilient, average, and mixed). This study addresses the little studied context of English language education in Eritrea. Despite the teaching of English as a subject and the forward-looking mother tongue policy implemented in Eritrean elementary education, Eritrean students struggle to cope with English as the medium of instruction from the start of junior school to the end of tertiary education. The link between violence and suicidal behavior among female university students in Spain

Objective: To explore the association between violence and suicidal behavior in female university students. Method: A convenience sample of 540 female students enrolled in the Nursing and Teacher Training Faculties at the University of Valencia was selected. Violence by partners, nonpartners, and both was compared with suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts. An adjusted logistic regression and the Wald Test were performed to explore whether the effect on student's suicidal behavior differed if a partner or others committed violence. Results: 18.1% reported suicidal thoughts in the last month and 2.4% had attempted suicide in the past five years. Suicidal behavior was significantly higher in…
