Virtual Acoustic Rendering in Old Spaces: Application to an Early-Modern Theatre in València, “L’Olivera”

2018

The application of the VR to the renderization of ancient and lost buildings is one important topic in the cultural heritage field nowadays. Moreover, the addition of other senses apart from the graphical view, increases the sensation of immersion in a virtual application. The aim of this paper is to show the work on a virtual acoustic system, based on Unity, FMOD and Csound. This system has been implemented to render binaural auralizations and has been applied to the renderization of an old and lost theatre in Valencia (Spain). This theatre was firstly build in the 16th century, and rebuilt several times until the 18th century. It has been modelled from ancient documents. The auralization …

2007

Purpose. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions and quantitative analysis of the volume of each component of the lung with cystic fibrosis (CF). Materials and methods. Twenty-two patients with CF (mean age 17±8 yeas) were included in the study. The patients underwent an unenhanced single-slice spiral computed tomography (CT) chest scan with the following parameters: collimation 3 mm, table feed 6 mm×rot-1, reconstruction interval 1 mm, soft tissue reconstruction kernel. Four image data sets were obtained: native axial slices, cine-mode display, virtual bronchographic volumerendered images with algorithm for tissue transition display and…

3D grafikas atveidošana reālā laikā ar Vulkan API

2017

Drawing between history and digital innovation

2015

The issue study the relationships between architectural thought and tecniques of drawing in history, from the first Century AC to the contempora…

Un'occasione perduta: l'Eden Teatro Biondo di Ernesto Basile. Dai disegni di archivio alla ricostruzione digitale

2016

Making interaction with virtual reality accessible : rendering and guiding methods for subtitles

2021

AbstractAccessibility in immersive media is a relevant research topic, still in its infancy. This article explores the appropriateness of two rendering modes (fixed-positioned and always-visible) and two guiding methods (arrows and auto-positioning) for subtitles in 360° video. All considered conditions have been implemented and integrated in an end-to-end platform (from production to consumption) for their validation and evaluation. A pilot study with end users has been conducted with the goals of determining the preferred options by users, the options that result in a higher presence, and of gathering extra valuable feedback from the end users. The obtained results reflect that, for the c…

Segmentation and Navigation Support of Clinical Data Sets to Simulate the Bronchoscopy and Rhinoscopy

2007

A training and simulation system for therapy planning is developed based on patient specific imaging data. A real endoscope is used for navigation through the virtual patient. For this purpose sensors were built in the endoscope in order to track the translation, rotation and the angle of the distal end. Pre-processing (segmentation, tissue characterization) speeds-up the volume rendering up to real-time. Collision detection enables a realistic fly through the virtual patient.

Dental anatomy portrayed with microscopic volume investigations

1993

The clinical treatment of the root canal of teeth--called endodontics--assumes a precise idea of the spatial arrangement of the anatomy of teeth and their inner structure. By using computer-assisted data acquisition from filmed sequences of histologic serial sections and a special kind of magnetic resonance microscope--the Stray Field Imaging (STRAFI)--volume investigations were carried out using special functions of a newly developed 3D software. Possible applications and future perspectives are discussed.

Computer-assisted orientation and drawing of archaeological pottery.

2018

Archaeologists spend considerable time orienting and drawing ceramic fragments by hand for documentation, to infer their manufacture, the nature of the discovery site and its chronology, and to develop hypotheses about commercial and cultural exchanges, social organisation, resource exploitation, and taphonomic processes. This study presents a survey of existing solutions to the time-consuming problem of orienting and drawing pottery fragments. Orientation is based on the 3D geometry of pottery models, which can now be acquired in minutes with low-cost 3D scanners. Several methods are presented: they are based on normal vectors, or circle fittings, or profile fittings. All these methods see…
