Asynchronous Occlusion Culling on Heterogeneous PC Clusters for Distributed 3D Scenes

We present a parallel rendering system for heterogeneous PC clusters to visualize massive models. One single, powerful visualization node is supported by a group of backend nodes with weak graphics performance. While the visualization node renders the visible objects, the backend nodes asynchronously perform visibility tests and supply the front end with visible scene objects. The visualization node stores only currently visible objects in its memory, while the scene is distributed among the backend nodes’ memory without redundancy. System-environment correlations and Markovian embedding of quantum non-Markovian dynamics

We study the dynamics of a quantum system whose interaction with an environment is described by a collision model, i.e. the open dynamics is modelled through sequences of unitary interactions between the system and the individual constituents of the environment, termed "ancillas", which are subsequently traced out. In this setting non-Markovianity is introduced by allowing for additional unitary interactions between the ancillas. For this model, we identify the relevant system-environment correlations that lead to a non-Markovian evolution. Pattern projection for subpixel resolved imaging in microscopy.

In this paper, we present a new approach providing super resolved images exceeding the geometrical limitation given by the detector pixel size of the imaging camera. The concept involves the projection of periodic patterns on top of the sample, which are then investigated under a microscope. Combining spatial scanning together with proper digital post-processing algorithm yields the improved geometrical resolution enhancement. This new method is especially interesting for microscopic imaging when the resolution of the detector is lower than the resolution due to diffraction.

Determination of projection geometry from quantitative assessment of the distortion of spherical references in single-view projection radiography

A method is introduced, inferring the three-dimensional (3-D) location from the 2-D radiographic shadow of an opaque spherical reference body of known radius by considering its elliptical distortion, the 2-D shadow location and a known source-to-receptor distance. Three noncollinear spheres fixed to a rigid object constitute all possible degrees of freedom, i.e., the entire 3-D imaging geometry. Novel view synthesis for projective texture mapping on real 3D objects

Industrial reproduction, as stereography or lithography, have a lack in texture information, as they only deal with 3D reconstruction. In this paper, we provide a new technique to map texture on real 3D objects, by synthesizing a novel view from two camera images to a projector frame, considered as a camera acting in reverse. No prior information on the pose or the shape of the 3D object is necessary, however hard calibration of the complete system is needed.
Demo: Co-simulation of UAVs with INTO-CPS and PVSio-web

This demo shows our ongoing work on the co-simulation of co-operative Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The work is based on the INTO-CPS co-simulation engine, which adopts the widely accepted Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) standard for co-simulation, and the PVSioweb prototyping tool, that extends a system simulator based on the PVS logic language with a web-based graphical interface. Simple scenarios of Quadcopters with assigned different tasks, such as rendez-vous and space coverage, are shown.
