The aim of this ethnographic and autoethnographic research was to explore what kind of a learning culture existed in an 8th grade English class in a Finnish basic education school in the 2011-2012 academic year. The class was taught jointly by a subject teacher and a special education teacher. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tarkastella työntekijöiden kuvauksia ja havaintoja siitä, miten ohjatussa äiti–lapsi-vertaisryhmässä tuetaan vanhemmuutta ja selviytymiskykyisyyttä. Tutkimuksen viitekehyksenä sovellettiin resilienssitutkimuksen ja Seligmanin (2011) PERMA-hyvinvointiteorian käsitteitä. Tutkimuksen kontekstina oli matalan kynnyksen perhekeskustoiminta ja kohteena äiti–lapsi-vertaisryhmä. In the last decade, widespread use of E-cigarettes (EC) has occurred all over the world. Whereas, a large amount of evidence on harm to children from conventional cigarette exposure is available, data on health effects in this population throughout different vulnerability windows are still a matter of concern. Exposure to EC during pregnancy may compromise placental function, resulting in fetal structural abnormalities. Specifically, this may cause physio-pathologic changes in the developing lung, which in turn may impair respiratory health later in life. The seeming impairment of retinoid metabolism in human breast tumor cells has been attributed to the lower expression of cellular retinol binding proteins (CRBPs), of alcohol/retinol dehydrogenases, or aldehyde/retinaldehyde dehydrogenases. In a previous study we indicated that xanthine dehydrogenase (XDH) is able to oxidize actively both all-trans-retinol (t-ROL) bound to the CRBP (holo-CRBP) and all-trans-retinaldehyde (t-RAL) to all-trans-retinoic acid (t-RA) in human mammary epithelial cells (HMEC). ANOTĀCIJA Promocijas darbs izstrādāts Latvijas Valsts mežzinātnes institūtā „Silava”. Pētījuma mērķis bija identificēt aktīvos retrotranspozonus parastās priedes (Pinus sylvestris L.) genomā un raksturot to transkripcijas līmeni dažādu stresa veidu ietekmē kontrolētos apstākļos. Pētījumā izmantoti nespecifiskie retrotranspozonu marķieri balstīti uz augsti konservatīvām tRNS piesaistes vietām. Viena klona priežu rametus pakļāva dabā izplatītam karstuma stresam, kukaiņu invāzijai (priežu hermess (Pineus pini L.), kā arī mākslīgi izraisītai augu hormonu (abscīzskābes un salicilskābes) ietekmei.
