A NANOPARTICULATE DRUG-DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR RIVASTIGMINE: PHYSICO-CHEMICAL AND IN VITRO BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION

2007

The preparation and characterization of surface-PE Gylated polymeric nanoparticles are described. These systems were obtained by UV irradiation of PHM and PHM-PEG(2000) as an inverse microemulsion, using an aqueous solution of the PHM/PHM-PEG(2000) copolymer mixture as the internal phase and triacetin saturated with water as the external phase, and characterized by dimensional analysis, zeta-potential measurements and XPS. in vitro biological tests demonstrated their cell compatibility and their ability to escape from phagocytosis. Rivastigmine was encapsulated into the nanoparticle structure and drug-release profiles from loaded samples were investigated in PBS at pH = 7.4 and human plasma.

Topological Approach to Drug Design

1995

In this paper we demonstrated that by an adequate combination of different topological indices it is possible to select and design new active compounds in different therapeutical scopes, with a very high efficiency level. Particularly successful in the search of new "lead drugs", the results show the surprising ability of the topological methods to describe molecular structures.

Predicting Skin Permeability by Means of Computational Approaches: Reliability and Caveats in Pharmaceutical Studies

2019

The skin is the main barrier between the internal body environment and the external one. The characteristics of this barrier and its properties are able to modify and affect drug delivery and chemical toxicity parameters. Therefore, it is not surprising that permeability of many different compounds has been measured through several in vitro and in vivo techniques. Moreover, many different in silico approaches have been used to identify the correlation between the structure of the permeants and their permeability, to reproduce the skin behavior, and to predict the ability of specific chemicals to permeate this barrier. A significant number of issues, like interlaboratory variability, experim…

Recent advances in aptamer-based miniaturized extraction approaches in food analysis

2021

Abstract Sample preparation is a relevant step in food analysis to achieve adequate extraction and preconcentration of target analytes before their introduction in the analytical system. Current trends in sample preparation involve moving towards miniaturized extraction devices combined with advanced affinity-based sorbents. Within affinity-based materials, aptamer-based ones have attracted much attention due to their excellent molecular recognition properties, high stability, and the possibility of immobilization onto the surface of different supporting materials, such as nanoparticles, monolithic stationary phases, etc. This review gives an overview of the literature published regarding a…

Monolithic silica columns of various format in automated sample clean-up/multidimensional liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry for peptidomics.

2007

The following particulate and monolithic silica columns were implemented in a fully automated and flexible multidimensional LC/MS system with integrated sample clean-up, to perform the analysis of endogeneous peptides from filtered urine and plasma samples: restricted access sulphonic acid strong cation-exchanger (RAM-SCX) for sample clean-up, RP 18 Chromolith guard columns as trap columns and 100 microm I.D. monolithic RP 18 fused silica capillary columns as last LC dimension. The results show sufficient overall system reproducibility and repeatability. Implementation of monolithic silica columns added an additional flexibility with respect to flow rate variation and adjustment due to the …

The Role of Psychological Factors in Judo: A Systematic Review.

2022

(1) Background: Psychological parameters are relevant in the practice of judo. Previous studies have shown that parameters such as anxiety or motivation can have a negative or positive impact on the athlete’s performance and general well-being, depending on the athlete’s perception. This systematic review aimed to summarize the studies examining the influence of various psychological parameters on well-being and performance in judo athletes; (2) Methods: We followed preferred reporting elements for systematic reviews and meta-analyses. We searched the Web of Science database for studies that explained the role of these parameters in elite athletes. Of the 286 articles initially identified, …

Combination of mid- and near-infrared spectroscopy for the determination of the quality properties of beers

2006

Abstract The combination of infrared (MIR) and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has been employed for the determination of important quality parameters of beers, such as original and real extract and alcohol content. A population of 43 samples obtained from the Spanish market and including different types of beer, was evaluated. For each technique, spectra were obtained in triplicate. In the case of NIR a 1 mm pathlength quartz flow cell was used, whereas attenuated total reflectance measurements were used in MIR. Cluster hierarchical analysis was employed to select calibration and validation data sets. The calibration set was composed of 15 samples, thus leaving 28 for validation. A critic…

Análisis de las necesidades de la formación docente para contextos pluriculturales

2012

In order that an intercultural programming turns out to be a feasible debit to possess educational equipment adequately formed, that could answer to the elements understood in the educational legislation. For this positive development, it becomes necessary that the teacher possesses the pedagogic necessary abilities and shows positive attitudes that favor the integration of the culturally minority pupil. It has split of three basic elements in order that the teachers could develop an intercultural educational competition and, from them, one has proposed an educational specific and different formation for the familiar area of the learner, indispensable in the process of attainment of the int…

Derivatization of amphetamine and methamphetamine with 1,2-naphthoquinone 4-sulfonic acid into solid-phase extraction cartridges. Determination of am…

1997

The derivatization of amphetamine and methamphetamine with 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate (NQS) into solid-phase extraction cartridges (C 18 ) is described. Optimum conditions were the use of carbonate–hydrogencarbonate buffer of pH 10, a 10 min reaction time at 25 °C and an NQS concentration of 9.6 × 10 - 3 M. The accuracy and the precision of the method were tested. The results obtained with the proposed liquid–solid procedure were compared with those obtained with a traditional liquid–liquid extraction with hexane–ethyl acetate. The procedure was used to measure amphetamine in pharmaceutical and urine samples

Controlled delivery of naltrexone by an intraoral device: in vivo study on human subjects.

2013

Naltrexone is widely used in the treatment of opiate addiction but its current peroral administration is characterized by low bioavailability with various side effects. The development of a long-acting transbuccal delivery device (IntelliDrug) for NLX may be useful to improve patient compliance and the therapy effectiveness. The aims of the study are (a) to test basic safety and effectiveness of controlled transbuccal drug delivery on human subjects; (b) to compare NLX bioavailability following transbuccal delivery vs per os conventional delivery; and (c) to test the hypothesis that transbuccal delivery is more efficient than the conventional route. In this randomized cross-over pilot study…
