Determination of mono-, di- and trinitronaphthalenes in soil samples contaminated by explosives.

2004

We investigated the extraction of eight mono-, di- and trinitronaphthalenes from soil samples by ultrasonic, respectively, soxhlet extraction. Sonication was the more convenient procedure with a usually higher repeatability than the soxhlet method. All extracts were analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection. These methods were used to determine the concentration of nitronaphthalenes in five soil samples polluted by explosives. The most abundant contaminants were 1,5- and 1,8-dinitronaphthalene as well as 1,3,5-, 1,3,8- and 1,4,5-trinitronaphthalene. In all samples the sum of trinitronaphthalenes exceeded the sum of mono- and dinitronaphthalenes. It is rec…

The application of phospholipid removal columns and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry for quantificati…

2016

In this study a robust and sensitive method based on a proposed sample purification procedure, using zirconia-coated Phree™ columns and analysis by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry are presented for the assessment of multi-class antibiotics in farmed fish species. The sample preparation procedure benefited from combined precipitation of proteins and selective removal of phospholipids by Phree™ columns, resulting in a high sensitivity of the method (LOQ 0.3-9mgkg(-1)). The in-house validation results (precision, repeatability, decision limit CCα, detection capability CCβ, etc.) indicate that the elaborated method is fully suitable f…

Capillary zone electrophoresis for the determination of thiabendazole, prochloraz and procymidone in grapes

2001

Capillary zone electrophoresis with UV detection was applied to the simultaneous determination of thiabendazole, prochloraz and procymidone in grapes. Electrolyte conditions such as pH, composition and concentration of the buffer, addition of organic solvent and working voltage were checked to obtain a high-performance separation of the three fungicides (by measurement of separation efficiency and resolution). The most critical parameter was the pH of the running buffer. The best separation was achieved in 4 mM phosphate solution at pH 3.5. The repeatability of the migration times, expressed as RSD, was <0.44%. The three peaks were completely resolved with a separation efficiency up to 100 …

Theoretical prediction of the chemiluminescence behaviour of the ergot alkaloids

2004

Abstract The present manuscript is dealing with the application of molecular connectivity calculations to predict the chemiluminescent behaviour of ergot alkaloids when they react with common strong oxidants in liquid phase. Twenty compounds were theoretically studied by means of a discriminant equation formerly published, being 19 of them predicted as chemiluminescent with a high probability. Empirical confirmation of the chemiluminometric behaviour is performed with the few soluble and commercially available ergot alkaloids. On the basis of these results, a new FIA-direct chemiluminescent method is proposed for the determination of the ergot presenting the higher light emission, the pharm…

Experimental and methodological factors affecting test-retest reliability of amygdala BOLD responses.

2018

Previous studies reported poor to fair test-retest reliability of amygdala BOLD responses to emotional stimuli. However, these findings are very heterogeneous across and within studies. The present study sought to systematically examine experimental and methodological factors that contribute to this heterogeneity. Forty-six young subjects were scanned twice with a mean test-retest interval of 7 weeks. We compared amygdala reliability across three tasks: A face-matching task, passive viewing of emotional faces, and passive viewing of emotional scenes. We also explored whether extraction of physiological noise can affect the stability of amygdala responses. We assessed test-retest reliability…

Validity and Reliability of a Single Question for Leisure-Time Physical Activity Assessment in Middle-Aged Women.

2020

Purpose: To investigate the validity and test–retest reliability of a single seven-level scale physical activity assessment question (SR-PA L7) and its three-level categorization (SR-PA C3). Methods: The associations of SR-PA L7 and C3 with accelerometer-measured leisure-time physical activity (ACC-LTPA) and with the results of four different physical performance tests (6-min walk [n = 733], knee extension [n = 695], vertical jump [n = 731], and grip force [n = 780]) were investigated among women aged 47–55 years participating in the Estrogenic Regulation of Muscle Apoptosis study (n = 795). The reliability was studied using Spearman correlations with 4-month test–retest period (n = 152). R…

Item Response Trees: a recommended method for analyzing categorical data in behavioral studies

2015

Behavioral data are notable for presenting challenges to their statistical analysis, often due to the difficulties in measuring behavior on a quantitative scale. Instead, a range of qualitative alternative responses is recorded. These can often be understood as the outcome of a sequence of binary decisions. For example, faced by a predator, an individual may decide to flee or stay. If it stays, it may decide to freeze or display a threat and if it displays a threat, it may choose from several alternative forms of display. Here we argue that instead of being analyzed using traditional nonparametric statistics or a series of separate analyses split by response categories, this kind of data ca…

Reliability of iCare ic100 Rebound Tonometry and Agreement With Goldmann Applanation Tonometry in Healthy and Post-myopic LASIK Patients.

2021

Rebound tonometry offers excellent reliability for obtaining intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements in healthy and post-myopic laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) patients regardless of corneal parameters and axial length and regardless of the instillation of ocular topical anesthesia. The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability of rebound tonometry, its agreement with Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) and its concordance after topical anesthesia in a group of nonoperated healthy patients and a group of post-myopic LASIK patients.Fifty-four patients were included in this prospective observational, case-control study. Patients were divided into 2 groups: control (n=3…

Simultaneous detection of three antiviral and four antibiotic compounds in source-separated urine with liquid chromatography

2013

An analytical method for the simultaneous screening of three antiviral agents (nevirapine, zidovudine, lamivudine), four antibiotics (sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, ciprofloxacin, rifampicin) and one reference compound (carbamazepine) in human urine was developed. Separation was achieved with a Kinetex XB-C18 (75 × 4.6 mm, 2.6 μm) column after the extraction of pharmaceuticals from urine with SPE. Gradient elution with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile and 10 mM KH2 PO4 (pH 2.5), and diode array detection with monitoring at 210 and 264 nm was applied. The developed method was validated in terms of selectivity, linearity, stability and sensitivity. Repeatability (n = 3) and between-…
