Lon Fuller’s Philosophical Affiliation: Prescriptive Legal Positivism (Neither Natural Law Theory nor Principialism)

2022

Rescriptum Constantini de quadraginta annorum praescriptione (FIRA, I, 96 e FIRA, III, 101)

2012

This study provides the full text of the P. Col. VII. 175 translated into Italian, concerning the transcript of a hearing conducted in front of Arsinoite’s σύνδικος in A.D. 339, and known in the field of doctrine as it cites a Constantine’s constitution regarding the longissimi temporis praescriptio. After reconstructing the trial and the early events preceding the lawsuit, defining the trial roles and detecting the nature of action and the reason why it was filed, the author has analysed the different juridical profiles of the text such as the evidence of the judicial function of the ἐπάρχος τῆς Αἰγύπτου; the judgemental function of the σύνδικος and the difficulty of identifying him as the…

Determinants of Prescription Opioid Use : Population‐Based Evidence from Finland

2021

Background and aims Previous studies have shown that prescription opioid use is more common in the socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in the US. This study examined the area and individual‐level determinants of prescription opioid use in Finland during the period 1995‐2016. Design Logistic regression analysis using nationwide data on filled opioid‐related prescriptions dispensed at Finnish pharmacies and covered by the National Health Insurance. Opioid consumption was linked, using personal identification codes, to population‐based data maintained by Statistics Finland, which records individual background and area‐level characteristics. Predicting and monitoring individual endurance training adaptation and individualizing training prescription : with endurance performance, cardiac au…

2016

Humans adapt differently to standardized endurance training programs. While some individuals may achieve huge improvements in physical fitness, other individuals may even suffer from negative adaptations. Special attention should be paid to identification of non-responders, which would enable to modify training to be more effective. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate whether running performance, cardiac autonomic regulation and neuromuscular performance can be used in 1) predicting subsequent endurance training adaptations; 2) monitoring training adaptations; and 3) individualizing training prescription in recreational endurance runners. Three longitudinal training s…

No…

Prescription opioid use and employment : A nationwide Finnish register study

2021

Background: The secular decline in labor market participation and the concurrent increase in opioid use in many developed countries have sparked a policy debate on the possible connection between these two trends. We examined whether the use of prescription opioids was connected to labor market outcomes relating to participation, employment and unemployment among the Finnish population. Methods: The working-age population (aged 19–64 years) living in Finland during the period 1995–2016 was used in the analyses (consisting of 67 903 701 person-year observations). Lagged values of prescription opioid use per capita were used as the exposure. Instrumental variables (IV) estimation method was u…
