National Preferences and the European Union Presidency: The Case of German Energy Policy towards Russia*

This article analyses the formation and development of Member State preferences and positions before and during the European Union (EU) Presidency term. The empirical analysis focuses on the Federal Republic of Germany's policy concerning EU–Russian relations, especially regarding energy policy. The extent to which liberal intergovernmentalism (LI) furthers our understanding of state behaviour in the context of the EU Presidency is questioned. The findings suggest that LI adequately explains the formation of German positions prior to assuming office, as its policy objectives are chiefly influenced by domestic producers' interests. Urology Residency Training in Italy: Results of the First National Survey

Background: Numerous surveys have been performed to determine the competence and the confidence of residents. However, there is no data available on the condition of Italian residents in urology. Objective: To investigate the status of training among Italian residents in urology regarding scientific activity and surgical exposure. Nurses experience of aromatherapy use with dementia patients experiencing disturbed sleep patterns. An action research project

The purpose of this study was to gain an insight into nurses' experiences of incorporating aromatherapy into the care of residents suffering from dementia, anxiety and disturbed sleep patterns. Twenty-four residents and twelve nurses from four nursing homes participated in an action research study. The use of lavender augustofolia essential oil diffused nightly was perceived as an effective care modality reducing insomnia and anxiety in this patient cohort. Nurses experienced some negative attitudes among colleagues because they considered aromatherapy as not evidence based. Nurses require greater access to evidence based use of Aromatherapy. Problem-based learning for anesthesia resident operating room crisis management training.

Background Senior anesthesia residents must acquire competency in crisis management for operating room (OR) emergencies. We conducted problem based learning (PBL) OR emergency scenarios for anesthesia residents, focused on emergencies in ‘Airway’, ‘Circulation’, ‘Central venous catheter’, and ‘Pain management complications’.
