Modelling in evaluating a working life project in higher education

2012

Abstract This article describes an evaluation method based on collaboration between the higher education, a care home and university, in a RD (2) comprehensive data collection methods are needed; (3) shared tools can be developed in interactive forums in ongoing evaluation, and (4) modelling makes professional expertise visible and brakes boundaries between different professions.

Developing teachers' professional expertise through collaboration in an innovative ICT‐based learning environment

2004

Recent research emphasizes the context‐specific nature of professional knowledge and expertise, implying that developing novel practices in authentic environments is a prerequisite for teachers' professional development. The aim of this study was to find out how teachers develop their practical knowledge and expertise through shared planning and to evaluate an innovative learning project carried out in an ICT‐based environment. Two secondary school teachers of history participated in this study. The data were gathered using a multi‐methodological approach (video recordings, interviews and questionnaires). The results are described in terms of the teachers' shared experiences and their incre…

Kombiniertes Simulationstraining: Ein neues Kurskonzept trainiert und verbessert das Krisenmanagement der gastroenterologischen Endoskopie

2005

Introduction Crisis management as well as realistic emergency situations can be trained in the new developed simulation workshop "Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Crisis Resource Management" by combining a full-scale simulator and the Erlanger Endoscopy Trainer. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the efficiency of the newly developed simulation workshop. Methods Endoscopists with more than 12 months experience can train their endoscopic skills and crisis resource management with the help of different simulators. In addition, two different scenarios (GI bleeding with significant blood loss and sedation overdoses) embedded in a realistic surrounding (emergency room) have to be managed…

Power of Paradox: Grassroots Organizations’ Legitimacy Strategies Over Time

2021

Fringe stakeholders with limited resources, such as grassroots organizations (GROs), are often ignored in business and society literature. We develop a conceptual framework and a set of propositions detailing how GROs strategically gain legitimacy and influence over time. We argue that GROs encounter specific paradoxes over the emergence, development, and resolution of an issue, and they address these paradoxes using cognitive, moral, and pragmatic legitimacy strategies. While cognitive and moral strategies tend to be used consistently, the flexible and paradoxical use of pragmatic strategies has important consequences, both for GROs’ legitimacy and for their potential influence over powerf…

Reproducible and Consistent Quantification of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Proteome by SWATH-mass spectrometry *

2015

Targeted mass spectrometry by selected reaction monitoring (S/MRM) has proven to be a suitable technique for the consistent and reproducible quantification of proteins across multiple biological samples and a wide dynamic range. This performance profile is an important prerequisite for systems biology and biomedical research. However, the method is limited to the measurements of a few hundred peptides per LC-MS analysis. Recently, we introduced SWATH-MS, a combination of data independent acquisition and targeted data analysis that vastly extends the number of peptides/proteins quantified per sample, while maintaining the favorable performance profile of S/MRM. Here we applied the SWATH-MS t…

Pràctiques de recursos humans, clima laboral i resultats de gestió. Anàlisi del cas "Verdifresh"

2012

Backoff Hardware Architecture for Inter-FPGA Traffic Management

2017

International audience; Multi-FPGA platforms are considered to be the mostappropriate experimental way to emulate a large Multi-ProcessorSystem-on-Chip based on a Network-on-Chip. However, theuse of a Network-on-Chip in several FPGAs requires inter-FPGA communication links to replace intra-FPGA links betweenrouters. As the ratio of the logic capacity to the number of IOsonly increases slowly with each generation of FPGA, IOs inFPGA are becoming a scare resource. And as there are morerouters than IOs, using a Network-on-Chip requires sharinginter-FPGA links between routers, and sharing an external linkcan lead to bottlenecks. Here, we evaluate the inter-FPGA trafficmanagement using a backoff…

Assessing agency of university students: validation of the AUS Scale

2016

Fostering agency as a core component of professionalism is seen as a critical task of higher education. However, the tools for assessing university students’ agency, and the pedagogical and relational resources needed for its development, are lacking. The present study describes the theoretical foundations and factor structure of the newly developed Agency of University Students (AUS) Scale, which assesses students’ course-specific agency. In the factor analysis, ten factors emerged. Four of these – Interest and motivation, Self-efficacy, Competence beliefs and Participation activity – are seen to represent individual resources of agency. The other four factors – Equal treatment, Teacher su…

Egoistic and moralistic bias in real-life inventory responses

2008

Response-faking tendencies can be divided into moralistic and egoistic bias according to the contents of the issue faked (Paulhus & John, 1998). Our hypothesis was that in a work-related selection context faking would occur on the egoistic sub-scales, as these are related to competence and talent, which are issues relevant in selection. To minimize the amount of conscious faking, half of 466 real-life applicants were warned about the presence of a socially desirable responding sub-scale in the Personality Research Form (PRF). Half of the respondents (control group) received standard instructions. Of all the PRF sub-scales, only the ones measuring either egoistic or moralistic traits were st…
