Green conservatism or environmental nativism? Exploring carbon dependency as populist political strategy in Poland

2021

The paper aims at describing and explaining the carbon-dependency political strategy in climate-energy policies as an exemplary case of populist politics in Poland. Under the slogan of green conservatism, the nativist Polish governments led by PiS (Prawo i Sprawiedliwo´s´c/Law and Justice) pursue climate-energy policies of environmental irresponsibility. The inertia in the Polish climate-energy policy creates one of the most dangerous mixes of populist politics and the (state) organized environmental hypocrisy. Explaining the gap emerging between the globally agreed goals and domestic policy delivery failure (and the dynamics in which it is created) allows us understand the factors determin…

Rapid advancement of online communication and publishing poses new challenges to media policy-makers and regulators for both statutory regulation and self-regulation. For journalists, ‘the Internet shapes and redefines a number of moral and ethical issues … when operating online or making use of online resources’ (Deuze and Yeshua, 2001: 276).

2008

In light of the growing social pressure for increased attention to ethics, the call for a higher degree of corporate social responsibility and the recent scandals calling into question the quality of sports ethics (doping, violence, corruption, etc.), it is pertinent to explore the question of whether and how organizations in this sector are adapting their marketing strategies.

2009

These pages aim to answer the question, from the ethical theory, of whether it is necessary to extend the universe of moral beings in order to account for the responsibility we have for other beings and for nature in general. To this end, we review the various proposals calling for an extension to the moral community. Following the critical dialogue with these traditions, we argue that the moral community does not need to be extended, but that the concept of moral responsibility requires reconstruction

2022
