Comparative evaluation of critical factors in Delivering service quality gaps in the Bangladeshi banking industry

2018

Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2018 This research study aims to search for the gaps in the quality of the service for the customers in different types of banks in Bangladesh. The study will evaluate the service quality gaps regarding different critical factors based on the SERVQUAL model which is initially established by Parasuraman. The relative importance and necessity of these vital factors in the evaluation of overall service qualitygaps investigated in the dominance analysis technique. This study was run by the questions and interviews of bank customers to find their perceptions about the service quality of selected Bangladeshi banks (Mary & Karl 20…

Identity, Instrumental Self-Interest and Institutional Evaluations: Explaining Public Opinion on Common European Policies in Foreign Affairs and Defe…

2008

This paper addresses public opinion on common European policies in foreign affairs and defence. It proposes three models of support for common policies in these fields. Drawing on Eurobarometer data, the analysis shows that instrumental self-interest and territorial identities contribute considerably to explaining support for common foreign affairs and defence policies. Moreover, support for common policies is strongly driven by domain-specific evaluations of the European Union's performance. These findings suggest that popular support for common European policies in foreign affairs and defence has an experiential base. Thus, elites have an incentive to respond to public opinion when makin…

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Finnish Version of the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire

2018

Background and Aims: Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire is a widely used patient-reported outcome measure in hand surgery. The aim of this study was to translate and validate the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire into Finnish for Finnish patients with hand problems following international standards and guidelines. Material and Methods: The original English Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire was translated into Finnish. Altogether, 115 patients completed the Finnish Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire, and reference outcomes: Disabilities of the Arm and Shoulder, EQ-5D 3L and pain intensity on a visual analog scale. Grip and key pinch forces were measured. After 1–2 weeks, 63 patient…

Bronchial hyperresponsiveness in children with atopic rhinitis: a 7-year follow-up

2004

Background:  A high prevalence of bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) was found in atopic subjects with rhinitis. Those subjects may be at higher risk for developing bronchial asthma. We evaluated, in a 7-year follow-up, BHR and atopy in a homogeneous population of nonasthmatic children with allergic rhinitis (AR), and their role in asthma development. Methods:  Twenty-eight children (6–15 years) with AR were studied. At enrollment (T0), skin tests, total serum IgE assay, peak expiratory flow (PEF) monitoring and methacholine (Mch) bronchial challenge were performed. BHR was computed as the Mch dose causing a 20% forced expiratory volume (FEV)1 fall (PD20FEV1) and as dose–response slope (DR…

Test–retest reliability and responsiveness of centre of pressure measurements in patients with hip osteoarthritis

2015

International audience; Objective: The aim of this study was to determine a set of measures for the evaluation of balance in patients suffering from hip osteoarthritis (OA) that were both reliable and responsive to change.Design: Three groups of subjects; Healthy, hip OA patients without surgery, and hip OA with surgery (pre and post-surgery) were included in this study. Subjects had to perform balance tests in two positions: standard and narrowed stance. CoP-based measures test-retest reliability was assessed in hip OA without surgery group, responsiveness were assessed between all groups and between pre and postsurgery. Results: Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) values from hip OA w…

Investigation of an opioid response categorization in advanced cancer patients

1999

The aim of this study was to investigate a possible distinction in three categories of opioid response and to identify possible factors associated with a poor response. A prospective survey was carried out in 105 consecutive patients requiring morphine for at least 4 weeks before death. Mean pain intensity, opioid doses and symptom intensity at weekly intervals, pain syndromes, and the presence of psychological distress were assessed. Opioid escalation index (OEI%) was calculated from the parameters recorded. Three categories were considered, including (1) patients with slow increments of opioid dose and a mean analgesic 10-cm visual analogue scale (VAS) less than 4 (responders), (2) patien…

Micro-level economic factors and incentives in children's energy balance related behaviours: Findings from the ENERGY European cross-section question…

2012

Published version of an article from the journal: International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity. Also available from BMC: http://dx.doi.org/10.1186/1479-5868-9-136 Open Access Background To date, most research on obesogenic environments facing school children has focused on physical and socio-cultural environments. The role of economic factors has been investigated to a much lesser extent. Our objective was to explore the association of micro-level economic factors and incentives with sports activities and intake of soft drinks and fruit juice in 10-12 year-old school children across Europe, and to explore price sensitivity in children’s soft drink consumption and corr…

Asthma phenotypes identified by latent class analysis in the ISAAC phase II Spain study.

2012

SummaryBackground Classification of respiratory symptoms may help to identify different underlying asthma phenotypes reflecting differences in aetiology and prognosis of wheezing disease among children. Objective To determine childhood asthma phenotypes based on respiratory symptoms from a widely used questionnaire to further classify phenotypes in international settings. Methods Between 2000 and 2002 cross-sectional studies were performed in four centres in Spain. Parental questionnaires were used to collect information on allergic diseases in more than 4000 children aged 8–12 years. In addition, objective markers for allergic sensitization and bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) were meas…

Reliability and validity of the Finnish version of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Shoulder Assessment Form, patient self-repor…

2014

Background The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Shoulder Assessment Form (ASES) is one of the most widely used shoulder outcome tools in clinical work and in scientific studies. However, it has not been validated in the Finnish language. The aims of this study were to cross-culturally adapt the ASES to the Finnish language and to study the psychometric properties of the self-report section of the ASES. Methods A total of 105 patients with shoulder symptoms answered the questionnaires of the ASES, a single disability question, the Simple Shoulder Test (SST), and the Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36). The reliability of the ASES questionnaire was studied using a test-retest…
