Nilpotent Lie algebras with 2-dimensional commutator ideals

Abstract We classify all (finitely dimensional) nilpotent Lie k -algebras h with 2-dimensional commutator ideals h ′ , extending a known result to the case where h ′ is non-central and k is an arbitrary field. It turns out that, while the structure of h depends on the field k if h ′ is central, it is independent of k if h ′ is non-central and is uniquely determined by the dimension of h . In the case where k is algebraically or real closed, we also list all nilpotent Lie k -algebras h with 2-dimensional central commutator ideals h ′ and dim k h ⩽ 11 .

L-fuzzy syntopogenous structures, Part I: Fundamentals and application to L-fuzzy topologies, L-fuzzy proximities and L-fuzzy uniformities

Abstract We introduce the concept of an L-fuzzy syntopogenous structure where L is a complete lattice endowed with an implicator ↦ : L × L → L satisfying certain properties (in particular, as L one can take an MV-algebra). As special cases our L-fuzzy syntopogenous structures contain classical Csaszar syntopogenous structures, Katsaras–Petalas fuzzy syntopogenous structures as well as fuzzy syntopogeneous structures introduced in the previous work of the second named author (A. Composition operators on uniform algebras, essential norms, and hyperbolically bounded sets

Let A be a uniform algebra, and let o be a self-map of the spectrum M A of A that induces a composition operator C o on A. The object of this paper is to relate the notion of "hyperbolic boundedness" introduced by the authors in 2004 to the essential spectrum of C o . It is shown that the essential spectral radius of C o , is strictly less than 1 if and only if the image of M A under some iterate o n of o is hyperbolically bounded. The set of composition operators is partitioned into "hyperbolic vicinities" that are clopen with respect to the essential operator norm. This partition is related to the analogous partition with respect to the uniform operator norm.

Linear invariants of Riemannian almost product manifolds

Using the decomposition of a certain vector space under the action of the structure group of Riemannian almost product manifolds, A. M. Naveira (9) has found thirty-six distinguished classes of these manifolds. In this article, we prove that this decomposition is irreducible by computing a basis of the space of invariant quadratic forms on such a space.

Best proximity points: Convergence and existence theorems for p-cyclic mappings

Abstract We introduce a new class of mappings, called p -cyclic φ -contractions, which contains the p -cyclic contraction mappings as a subclass. Then, convergence and existence results of best proximity points for p -cyclic φ -contraction mappings are obtained. Moreover, we prove results of the existence of best proximity points in a reflexive Banach space. These results are generalizations of the results of Al-Thagafi and Shahzad (2009) [8] .

The parameterized local deduction theorem for quasivarieties of algebras and its application

Let τ be an algebraic type. To each classK of τ-algebras a consequence relation ⊧ K defined on the set of τ-equations is assigned. Some weak forms of the deduction theorem for ⊧ K and their algebraic counterparts are investigated. The (relative) congruence extension property (CEP) and its variants are discussed.CEP is shown to be equivalent to a parameter-free form of the deduction theorem for the consequence ⊧ K .CEP has a strong impact on the structure ofK: for many quasivarietiesK,CEP implies thatK is actually a variety. On sets of subspaces closed under reguli

Using a representation of chain geometries where points are certain subspaces of a projective space and chains are reguli, we give an algebraic description of the weak subspaces of the chain geometry (i.e. the subsets of the pointset which are closed with respect to reguli).

Group graded algebras and multiplicities bounded by a constant

AbstractLet G be a finite group and A a G-graded algebra over a field of characteristic zero. When A is a PI-algebra, the graded codimensions of A are exponentially bounded and one can study the corresponding graded cocharacters via the representation theory of products of symmetric groups. Here we characterize in two different ways when the corresponding multiplicities are bounded by a constant.
