Vertical scratches detection based on edge detection for old film
2010
Automatic detection of image damaged regions is the key to automatic video image inpainting. Vertical scratches are the common damages in the old film. In this paper, a vertical scratches detection algorithm based on edge detection is proposed. The proposed algorithm first uses the operator which has the largest response to the vertical edge in Sobel operator to detect edges, and then uses canny operator to detect edges further. Third, we detect vertical lines in the image through probabilistic Hough transform. Finally, we obtain the true locations of the vertical lines scratches through morphology and width constraints. Many experiments show that our method can detect vertical line scratch…
Maximum Common Subgraph based locally weighted regression
2012
This paper investigates a simple, yet effective method for regression on graphs, in particular for applications in chem-informatics and for quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs). The method combines Locally Weighted Learning (LWL) with Maximum Common Subgraph (MCS) based graph distances. More specifically, we investigate a variant of locally weighted regression on graphs (structures) that uses the maximum common subgraph for determining and weighting the neighborhood of a graph and feature vectors for the actual regression model. We show that this combination, LWL-MCS, outperforms other methods that use the local neighborhood of graphs for regression. The performance of this…
Subpixel determination of imperfect circles characteristics
2008
This article deals with the problem of the determination of characteristics of imperfect circular objects in discrete images, namely the radius and center coordinates. To limit distortion, a multi-level method based on active contours was developed. Its originality is to furnish a set of geometric envelopes in one pass, with a correspondence between grayscale and a regularity scale. The adequacy of this approach was tested with several methods, among them is the Radon-based method. More particularly, this study indicates the relevance of the use of active contours combined with a Radon transform-based method which was improved using a fitting considering the discrete implementation of the R…
A Formal Semantics and a Client Synthesis for a BPEL Service
2008
A complex Web service described with languages like BPEL4WS, consists of an executable process and its observable behaviour (called an abstract process) based on the messages exchanged with the client. The abstract process behaviour is non deterministic due to the internal choices during the service execution. Furthermore the specification often includes timing constraints which must be taken into account by the client. Thus given a service specification, we identify the synthesis of a client as a key issue for the development of Web services. To this end, we propose an approach based on (dense) timed automata to first describe the observable service behaviour and then to build correct inte…
Stochastic Tension-Stiffening Approach for the Solution of Serviceability Problems in Reinforced Concrete: Constitutive Modeling
2015
A number of studies have indicated that the tension-stiffening law is an important input parameter in a numerical analysis of serviceability (deformations and cracking) problems of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. The stochastic nature of concrete cracking, which results in a large scatter of experimental results, renders the constitutive modeling a very difficult task. Even data obtained from short-term tests are to some degree uncertain due to time-dependent processes occurring in concrete, such as shrinkage and creep relaxation. This article provides statistical analysis tools that can be readily applied to engineering practice. Stochastic principles are applied to modeling of tensio…

Iterative pairs and multitape automata
1996
In this paper we prove that if every iterative k-tuple of a language L recognized by a k-tape automaton is very degenerate, then L is recognizable. Moreover, we prove that if L is an aperiodic langnage recognized by a deterministic k-tape automaton, then L is recognizable.
