Retoriskie līdzekļi emuāru rakstos par menedžmentu

2022

Nel saggio viene analizzata la produzione editoriale incentivata da Russo in relazione a questi due temi Luigi Russo has dedicated much effort in establishing relations between Aesthetics and Architect…

Self-portrait of an Orator as a Poet : images and Poetic references in Aelius Aristides' work

2022

Aelius Aristides is one of the major representatives of the Second Sophistic : his speeches are exemplary of the development of epidictic rhetoric in the imperial period. Everything in his work, including what he himself says on the subject, gives the image of an orator devoted body and soul to rhetoric and confident in the powers of prose. This is also the portrait that most studies since the 19th century have confirmed. However, poetry plays an important role in Aristide's speeches : they contain many poetic images and references. Moreover, Aristide writes poems and gives us fragments of them. He does not hesitate to refer to his own verses in speeches from both the beginning and the end o…

Ekskurs XI. Sprofanowana świątynia (Ez 8,1-18) i dolina suchych kości (Ez 37,1-14) w świetle retoryki hebrajskiej

2021

A parental voice: parents as equal and dependent – rhetoric about parents, teachers, and their conversations

2009

This study analyses texts from the National Parents’ Committee for Primary and Lower Secondary Education in Norway and addresses how parents describe their own role, the teachers’ role, and their conversations. The theoretical perspective employed is Koselleck’s conceptual theory. The findings show that, despite having formal legal rights, parents must constantly legitimize these rights in school. Parents are expected to assume a passive role, while the teachers’ role is held to be active. Furthermore, the diversity among parents is not discussed. Parents moreover resign their own involvement in their children’s education in spite of the fact that teachers and parents may have different per…

Healing Grief: A Commentary on Seneca's Consolatio ad Marciam

2023

Both our view of Seneca’s philosophical thought and our approach to the ancient consolatory genre have radically changed since the latest commentary on the Consolatio ad Marciam was written in 1981. The aim of this work is to offer a new book-length commentary on the earliest of Seneca’s extant writings, along with a revision of the Latin text and a reassessment of Seneca’s intellectual program, strategies, and context. A crucial document to penetrate Seneca’s discourse on the self in its embryonic stages, the Ad Marciam is here taken seriously as an engaging attempt to direct the persuasive power of literary models and rhetorical devices toward the fundamentally moral project of healing Ma…

2010

Since war is the dominant subject matter in ancient Historiography, the general's speech to his men before battle is attested in almost all historians. The aim of the work was the study of the commander exhortations before the battle in Thucydides. Particular attention was devoted to the exhortations by two commanders during the Peloponnesian War: Brasidas, from Sparta, and Demosthenes, from Athens. The scope was to investigate what arguments they used in order to spurring the troops in the battle with audacity. Fact or Fiction? Thucydides had been a general himself. The speeches which he puts into generals' mouths before battle are not rhetorical invention. They keep as close as possible t…
