About Leibniz cohomology and deformations of Lie algebras

We compare the second adjoint and trivial Leibniz cohomology spaces of a Lie algebra to the usual ones by a very elementary approach. The comparison gives some conditions, which are easy to verify for a given Lie algebra, for deciding whether it has more Leibniz deformations than just the Lie ones. We also give the complete description of a Leibniz (and Lie) versal deformation of the 4-dimensional diamond Lie algebra, and study the case of its 5-dimensional analogue.
Back to the Amitsur-Levitzki theorem: a super version for the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra osp(1, 2n)

We prove an Amitsur-Levitzki type theorem for the Lie superalgebras osp(1,2n) inspired by Kostant's cohomological interpretation of the classical theorem. We show that the Lie superalgebras gl(p,q) cannot satisfy an Amitsur-Levitzki type super identity if p, q are non zero and conjecture that neither can any other classical simple Lie superalgebra with the exception of osp(1,2n).

The J-invariant, Tits algebras and Triality

In the present paper we set up a connection between the indices of the Tits algebras of a simple linear algebraic group $G$ and the degree one parameters of its motivic $J$-invariant. Our main technical tool are the second Chern class map and Grothendieck's $\gamma$-filtration. As an application we recover some known results on the $J$-invariant of quadratic forms of small dimension; we describe all possible values of the $J$-invariant of an algebra with orthogonal involution up to degree 8 and give explicit examples; we establish several relations between the $J$-invariant of an algebra $A$ with orthogonal involution and the $J$-invariant of the corresponding quadratic form over the functi…
Steiner systems and configurations of points

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to make a connection between design theory and algebraic geometry/commutative algebra. In particular, given any Steiner SystemS(t, n, v) we associate two ideals, in a suitable polynomial ring, defining a Steiner configuration of points and its Complement. We focus on the latter, studying its homological invariants, such as Hilbert Function and Betti numbers. We also study symbolic and regular powers associated to the ideal defining a Complement of a Steiner configuration of points, finding its Waldschmidt constant, regularity, bounds on its resurgence and asymptotic resurgence. We classify semi-topological locally compact and semi-algebraic near-rings R where the set of non-invertible elements of R forms an ideal I of R such that the multiplicative group of R/I acts sharply transitively on I\{0}. To achieve our results we use as a main tool the classi cation of locally compact and algebraic (2; 2)-transformation groups given in two previuos papers.
