Fatty Acids of Microbial Origin in the Perirenal Fat of Rats (Rattus norvegicus domestica) and Guinea Pigs (Cavia porcellus) Fed Various Diets.

Guinea pigs are assumed to practice caecotrophy to a higher degree than rats. Studies from leporids suggest that through the practice of caecotrophy, hindgut fermenting species could build up microbial fatty acids (FA) in body tissues. We hypothesized that microbial FA would be detectable in the body tissue of guinea pigs and rats, and this to a higher degree in guinea pigs. Twenty-four rats and guinea pigs were fed with four different pelleted diets (lucerne-, meat-, meat-bone-, insect-based) in groups of six animals for 8 weeks. Spontaneous perirenal hematoma due to a small perihilar renal cell carcinoma.

Spontaneous renal rupture is an infrequent event and is usually caused by a predisposing factor. Up to 178 cases have been published. We present a case of a large spontaneous perirenal hematoma caused by a perihilar renal cell carcinoma of a 1-cm diameter. Reviewing the literature, a classification of the condition is given according to the underlying pathology and mechanism of rupture. The need for explorative surgery in cases which cannot be clarified by noninvasive diagnostic tools is discussed.

Transcatheter embolization of a renal artery pseudoaneurysm after open partial nephrectomy.

2011

Twelve days after an open partial nephrectomy, a 31-year-old man was re-admitted urgently for acute lumbar pain. An emergent helical computed tomography scan with intravenous contrast revealed a 3-cm renal artery pseudoaneurysm at the site of the partial nephrectomy, which was responsible for a large perirenal hematoma. Transarterial hyperselective embolization successfully occluded the pseudoaneurysm with less than 1 mL of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate, an embolizing agent less costly than coils. The kidney parenchyma was fully preserved.

Fra i cambiamenti più rilevanti in atto nel mondo del lavoro vi è certamente quello riguardante la diversa accezione che ha assunto l’identità professionale. In presenza di una accentuata volubilità e di una difficile definzione dell’identità professionale – spesso divisa fra molte occupazioni svolte in luoghi e in momenti della propria vita e della giornata diversi – il bisogno di ricomposizione che caratterizza la frammentata società contemporanea e che si declina nei diversi ambiti istituzionali sembra assumere nel lavoro connotazioni assolutamente specifiche che meritano particolare attenzione. Il volume risultato dell’approfondimento di una ricerca condotta in Italia nel 2004 da dieci sedi universitarie e riguardante i percorsi di ricomposizione sociale degli adulti-giovani intende offrire un’analisi dei cambiamenti determinati dal differente modo in cui si declina per questa fascia di età la dimensione lavorativa. Il lavoro ci si è chiesti può essere considerato un ambito di ricomposizione nella frammentata vita degli adulti giovani? Attraverso l’analisi quali-quantitativa di diverso materiale empirico si è inteso scandagliare nel rapporto esistente fra lavoro progetto biografico e formazione dell’identità professionale in un periodo in cui la difficile “transizione alla vita adulta” assume sempre più i caratteri della dilazione continuata e in cui “ricomporre la vita” diventa anche per gli adulti giovani sempre più difficile.

Incapacità di acquisire nuovi ricordi difficoltà nel ricordare eventi osservati recentemente mancata identificazione delle cose dei luoghi e delle persone disorientamento visivo-spaziale sono questi e molti altri i disturbi con cui devono imparare a convivere coloro che sono colpiti da malattie neurologiche. In una società in continua evoluzione dove la diminuzione della natalità e l’innalzamento della soglia di mortalità divengono costanti il compito dell’Architettura è proprio quello d’interpretare le esigenze e i bisogni di persone che hanno perso il rapporto canonico con il mondo e offrire loro le possibilità di recuperarlo o di mantenerlo attraverso canali di comunicazione che sfruttino le loro residue capacità di comprensione. Lo spazio interno ed esterno assume così una “funzione protesica” contenendo ed esprimendo in sé le conoscenze necessarie per la sua corretta fruizione riducendo il senso di frustrazione attraverso la sensazione di sicurezza e di benessere che il malato deve percepire vivendolo.
