Dsdivn: A Distributed Software-Defined Networking Architecture for Infrastructure-Less Vehicular Networks
2017
International audience; In the last few years, the emerging network architecture paradigm of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), has become one of the most important technology to manage large scale networks such as Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs). Recently, several works have shown interest in the use of SDN paradigm in VANETs. SDN brings flexibility, scalability and management facility to current VANETs. However, almost all of proposed Software-Defined VANET (SDVN) architectures are infrastructure-based. This paper will focus on how to enable SDN in infrastructure-less vehicular environments. For this aim, we propose a novel distributed SDN-based architecture for uncovered infrastructur…
Remote diagnosis and control of wheelchair electrical drive systems
2005
A new Diagnostic and Protective System (DPS) suitable for wheelchair electrical drive applications has been prepared. Such a system is able to perform both monitoring and long-distance transmission of key signals that are used as pre-fault and fault indicators. The system, moreover, may detect several anomalous working conditions by means of reliable diagnosis procedures and carries out actions to protect the electrical drive and to drive the disabled people in safe conditions. In particular the design, the realization and the performance analysis of the new dedicated diagnostic system, which exploits a programmable logic controller (PLC) as DRS hardware, are described and discussed. The ef…
Performance Degradation of Discrete PID Controller for Digital Excitation Control System Due to Variation of Sampling Time
2019
Modern digital AVR are consisting PID controller in forward path ensures fast response in the event of disturbance. Digital keypad is used for setting PID gains to improve performance of the system. Digital PID controller reads the error signal at regular interval unlike analog controller that reads the error signal continuously. Regular interval at which digital processor reads error signal is called sampling time that has substantial effect on the performance of the controller and consequently affects the stability of the power system where synchronous generator using digital excitation system is connected in parallel. This paper addresses the issues of variation of sampling time on the p…
Sensorless variable speed single-phase induction motor drive system based on direct rotor flux orientation
2012
The single-phase induction motor (SPIM) is one of the electrical machines more used in the World, and can be found in several fractional and sub-fractional horsepower applications in houses, offices, shoppings, farms, and industries. The introduction of more sophisticated applications has required the use of variable speed drives for SPIM, where the adoption of sensorless techniques is the more reasonable option for speed control due to the low cost of this electrical machine. A proposal for sensorless variable speed SPIM drive based on direct rotor field orientation techniques is presented in this paper. None transformation is used in order to eliminate the asymmetry of the stator windings…
Speed control design for a vehicle system using fuzzy logic and PID controller
2015
This paper consists of designing fuzzy and PID controllers for controlling the vehicle speed. The dynamic of the system is modeled to provide a transfer function for the plant. Fuzzy and PID controller are designed for linear model. The external disturbances such road grade is considered to stabilizing the system. Both controllers are modeled using MATLAB Simulink software. Finally, a comparative assessment of each simulated result is done based on the response characteristics.
Misfire Detection System based on the Measure of Crankshaft Angular Velocity
2007
Misfire detection systems are becoming increasingly important in automotive market due to recent environmental issues (Euro rules). An early misfire diagnosis also allows to prevent damages to the exhaust emission system and consequent costs for the user. Today few low cost methods exists in order to precisely detect single misfires in real time, the majority in fact require the use of expensive sensors (e.g. pressure sensors) or dedicated circuits (e.g. ionization current sensing). This work describes a method and electronic system capable of detecting misfires with good accuracy, using parameters such as the speed sensor signal, already available in commercial engines. The proposed method…
Sequential design of multioverlapping controllers for structural vibration control of tall buildings under seismic excitation
2012
In this article, a computationally effective strategy to obtain multioverlapping controllers via the inclusion principle is applied to design a state-feedback multioverlapping linear-quadratic regulator controller for a 20-story building. The proposed semidecentralized controller only requires state information of neighboring stories to compute the corresponding control actions. This particular information exchange configuration allows introducing a dramatic reduction in the transmission range required for a wireless implementation of the communications system. More specifically, just a one-story transmission range is required by the proposed multioverlapping controller, while a full-buildi…
A Laboratory Project for Advanced Control Methods: Control of a Neutralization Process
2003
Abstract A neutralization process is used in a laboratory project for experimenting advanced control techniques. Students may choose among several techniques to experience the behaviour of advanced controller action: adaptive control, GMG control, fuzzy control, self tuning fuzzy control, neural control, neuro-fuzzy control. The experience in advanced self tuning controller based on fuzzy logic is proposed for the control of a neutralization process. The test of a self tuning controller based on fuzzy logic is a very important case because the resulting structure of the controller is easy to implement and modify: the final results are compared with those deriving from the application of a c…
The control of indoor thermal comfort conditions: introducing a fuzzy adaptive controller
2004
The control and the monitoring of indoor thermal conditions represents a pre-eminent task with the aim of ensuring suitable working and living spaces to people. Especially in industrialised countries, in fact, several rules and standards have been recently released in order of providing technicians with suitable design tools and effective indexes and parameters for the checking of the indoor microclimate. Among them, predicted mean vote (PMV) index is often adopted for assessing the thermal comfort conditions of thermal moderate environments. Unfortunately, the PMV index is characterised by non-linear features, that could determine some difficulties when monitoring and controlling HVAC equi…
H∞ fuzzy control of DC-DC converters with input constraint
2012
Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/973082 Open access This paper proposes a method for designing H∞ fuzzy control of DC-DC converters under actuator saturation. Because linear control design methods do not take into account the nonlinearity of the system, a T-S fuzzy model and a controller design approach is used. The designed control not only handles the external disturbance but also the saturation of duty cycle. The input constraint is first transformed into a symmetric saturation which is represented by a polytopic model. Stabilization conditions for the H∞ state feedba…
