Interoceptive sensitivity is a biologically determined, constitutional trait of an individual. High interoceptive sensitivity has been often associated with proneness to anxiety. This association has been explained by elevated autonomic responsiveness in anxious individuals. However, in a heartbeat discrimination task (discrimination of heartbeats’ simultaneity to an external stimulus) low cardiac responsiveness has accompanied enhanced performance. The relation between these factors seems task dependent, and cannot comprehensively explain the link between interoceptive sensitivity and anxiety. Sädehoidossa potilaalle tehdään yksilöllinen annossuunnitelma, jonka mukaan hoito toteutetaan. Kaikilta annokseen vaikuttavilta tekijöiltä vaaditaan suurta tarkkuutta. Uusi lähestymistapa annossuunnitelmien laadunvarmistukseen on tiedonlouhintaan ja koneoppimiseen perustuvien menetelmien hyödyntäminen. Kyseisillä menetelmillä voidaan muodostaa hoidossa aiemmin toteutetuista annossuunnitelmista malli, jonka avulla voidaan havaita uusien annossuunnitelmien poikkeavuudet, ja näin lisätä sädehoidon turvallisuutta. Convolutional neural networks in skin cancer detection using spatial and spectral domain

Skin cancers are world wide deathly health problem, where significant life and cost savings could be achieved if detection of cancer can be done in early phase. Hypespectral imaging is prominent tool for non-invasive screening. In this study we compare how use of both spectral and spatial domain increase classification performance of convolutional neural networks. We compare five different neural network architectures for real patient data. Our models gain same or slightly better positive predictive value as clinicians. Towards more general and reliable model more data is needed and collection of training data should be systematic. peerReviewed

Humor and Disobedience : Understanding Controversial Humor

In this article, I analyze controversial humor and argue that the concept of disobedience is of central importance when evaluating, for instance, harsh or potentially hurtful jokes. Following social critic Erich Fromm (1900– 1980) I claim that disobedience is a dialectic concept: that is, it includes the possibilities both to affirm and to reject. This observation connects humor to other values, and pivotal is how humor is related to the question of what it means to be a human being. Through this insight, I argue that controversial humor may shock and be offensive, or it can be amusing and even have a cathartic effect. Efficient and scalable early diagnostic methods for knee osteoarthritis are desired due to the disease’s prevalence. The current automatic methods for detecting osteoarthritis using plain radiographs struggle to identify the subjects with early-stage disease.
