The role of competition and rarity in the restoration of a dry grassland in Finland

Semi-natural grasslands have become scarce throughout Europe. Preservation of their plant species requires either the maintenance of the existing grasslands or the creation of new ones. To study the establishment and regeneration ability of plant species typical of dry grasslands we laid out an experiment on a former arable field in central Finland. We compared the success of 13 grassland species both in a theoretical situation with minimal competition and in competition with weeds. More than half of the species used were regionally rare. Background: Children generally have a higher nasal resistance than adults. Growth changes the size and different anthropometric parameters of the nose. Logarithmic effective resistance and logarithmic vertex resistance were introduced as physically correct parameters for nasal obstruction. The previously published classification of obstruction derived from 36,500 measurements is missing data for patients aged 7 to 19 years. The regional variability in tundra and boreal carbon dioxide (CO2) fluxes can be high, complicating efforts to quantify sink-source patterns across the entire region. Son objectif est de discuter l’hypothèse récemment émise selon laquelle saint Landelin, qui a vécu au VIIe siècle dans le nord de la Gaule, serait Landelinus, l’auteur de cet objet. Plusieurs arguments militent en faveur de cette interprétation qui nous paraît donc plausible, même si elle reste fragile.
