Abstract Background : Nonpuerperal mastitis may mimic breast cancer but the incidence of noninflammatory cancer among such patients is unknown. Aim : To estimate the risk of breast cancer in patients with nonpuerperal mastitis within 12 months of treatment. Study design : Two hundred seventy-seven patients with nonpuerperal breast inflammation were prospectively screened for breast cancer within 1 year after mastitis was diagnosed. The age-related standardized breast cancer incidence ratio of the female population was calculated. Combined therapy with acyclovir and adenosine arabinoside in herpes simplex encephalitis.

We report a case of herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE) with initial coma and severe left-sided hemiparesis in which combined treatment with adenine arabinoside and acyclovir was followed by complete recovery. This favorable result is discussed in view of the literature of HSE treatment including experimental studies on antiviral activity of both drugs. Combined treatment may be useful in severe cases of HSE.

The interpersonal model has been validated for binge eating disorder (BED), but it is not yet known if the model applies to individuals who are obese but who do not binge eat. The goal of this study was to compare the validity of the interpersonal model in those with BED versus those with obesity, and normal weight samples. Data from a sample of 93 treatment-seeking women diagnosed with BED, 186 women who were obese without BED, and 100 controls who were normal weight were examined for indirect effects of interpersonal problems on binge eating psychopathology mediated through negative affect. Abstract Factors affecting occupational hygiene were measured at the solid waste transferring plant at Hyvinkaa and at the optic separation plant in Hameenlinna. Measurements consisted of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and bioaerosols including microbes, dust and endotoxins. The most abundant compounds in both of the plants were aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters of carboxylic acids, ketones and terpenes. In terms of odour generation, the most important emissions were acetic acid, 2,3-butanedione, ethyl acetate, alpha-pinene and limonene due to their low threshold odour concentrations. Online discussions are rife with fear-evoking images and meaning making that highlight a perceived threat to the security of European nations and their inhabitants posed by migrants’ violence in the wake of increased immigration.
