Several strains of Penicillium are used for the production of mold-ripened cheeses, and some of them are able to produce mycotoxins. The aims of the research were the determination of roquefortine C and PR toxin in domestic and imported blue cheeses, the identification of the penicillia used as starter, and the investigation of their capacity for producing toxins in culture media. Roquefortine C was always found in the cheeses at levels ranging from 0.05 to 1.47 mg/kg, whereas the PR toxin was never found. Altered epiphyte community and sea urchin diet in Posidonia oceanica meadows in the vicinity of volcanic CO2 vents

Ocean acidification (OA) predicted for 2100 is expected to shift seagrass epiphyte communities towards the dominance of more tolerant non-calcifying taxa. However, little is known about the indirect effects of such changes on food provision to key seagrass consumers. We found that epiphyte communities of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica in two naturally acidified sites (i.e. north and south sides of a volcanic CO2 vent) and in a control site away from the vent at the Ischia Island (NW Mediterranean Sea) significantly differed in composition and abundance. Neighborhood resources associated with active travel in older adults: A cohort study in six European Countries

Objectives: To study associations between perceived neighborhood resources and time spent by older adults in active travel. Methods: Respondents in six European countries, aged 65–85 years, reported on the perceived presence of neighborhood resources (parks, places to sit, public transportation, and facilities) with response options “a lot,” “some,” and “not at all.” Daily active travel time (total minutes of transport-related walking and cycling) was self-reported at the baseline (n = 2,695) and 12–18 months later (n = 2,189). Darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 43 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 26 attēlus, 2 tabulas, 71 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis: Novērtēt apmiglojuma ietekmi uz krustoto un nekrustoto disparitāti. Darba uzdevumi: Nomērīt krustotās un nekrustotās disparitātes slieksni personām ar labu redzes asumu. Inducēt anizometropijas apmiglojumu ar +/- 1,0 un +/- 2,0 D lēcām un izdarīt atkārtotu testēšanu. Salīdzināt iegūtos rezultātus ar apmiglojumu un bez. Abstract Recent investigations have shown the potential of red coralline algae as paleoclimatic archive. A previously unexplored subfamily of coralline algae, the Lithophylloideae, was investigated from the Gulf of Aden (Balhaf, Yemen). Seasonal changes in Mg/Ca, Li/Ca and Ba/Ca composition of Lithophyllum kotschyanum f. affine were investigated by Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). Nivelrikko on etenkin ikääntyneeseen väestöön kohdistuva kipuja ja toiminnallisia rajoituksia aiheuttava nivelsairaus. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää liikunnan vaikutuksia polvinivelruston laatuun ja seurata mahdollisia rustomuutoksia 12 kuukauden kuluttua harjoittelun lopettamisesta lievää polvinivelrikkoa sairastavilla 50-65 –vuotiailla naisilla. Lisäksi tarkoituksena oli tutkia harjoittelun vaikutuksia fyysiseen toimintakykyyn ja polven oireisiin sekä arvioida vaikutusten pysyvyyttä intervention jälkeen. Darba nolūks ir izpētīt kvantu algoritmus un apakšējos novērtējumus Hopkrofta problēmai. Šajā uzdevumā doti punkti un taisnes, un vajag noteikt, vai kāds no punktiem atrodas uz kādas taisnes. Šis ir klasisks uzdevums, kas parādās vairākos ģeometriskos pielietojumos, un šajā darbā tiks pētīta tā sarežģītība kvantu skaitļošanas modelī. Lai iegūtu apakšējos novērtējumus, paredzēts kādas pazīstamas problēmas reducēt uz Hopkrofta problēmu. Lai iegūtu kvantu algoritmus, plānots pārveidot klasiskus algoritmus uz kvantu versijām, izmantojot zināmus kvantu skaitļošanas rīkus.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of high-impact exercise on bone mineral mass and strength, and on knee cartilage composition in postmenopausal women with mild knee osteoarthritis (OA).
