Safety and efficacy of intensity-modulated radiotherapy in the management of spermatic cord sarcoma.
2017
International audience; Purpose. - Spermatic cord sarcoma is a rare disease, which management remains controversial due to the lack of guidelines. The standard therapeutic approach is surgical: wide soft-tissue resection with radical inguinal orchidectomy, The diagnosis is made during the analysis of the specimen. The high rate of local recurrence indicates adjuvant radiotherapy of the tumor bed. The aim of this series is to determine the efficacy and safety of postoperative intensity-modulated radiotherapy for spermatic cord sarcomas. Patients and methods. - Our series included five consecutive cases of spermatic cord sarcoma treated between 2011 and 2014. The indications for radiotherapy …

Analysis of the human a-wave ERG component
2006
The a-wave is one of the main issues of research in the field of ocular electrophysiology, since it is strictly connected with early photoreceptoral activities. The present study proposes mathematical methods that analyse this component in human subjects, and supports experimental evidence relating to possible correlations among the responses of photoreceptoral units under a light stimulus. The investigation is organized in two parts: the first part concerns the onset and the initial slope, up to the first minimum (about 10-15 ms), the second part deals with the main portion of the wave, up to about 30 ms. In both cases, the a-waves, recorded at various levels of luminance, have been fitted…

Pharmacogenetic Study of ABCB1 and CYP3A5 Genes During the First Year Following Heart Transplantation Regarding Tacrolimus or Cyclosporine Levels
2011
Pharmacogenetics explains part of the interindividual variability in drug responses. Many published works about the effects of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on immunosuppressive drug blood levels present contradictory results. We evaluated the SNPs in ABCB1 (glycoprotein P) and CYP3A5 (metabolic enzyme) genes, seeking correlate them with tacrolimus or cyclosporine levels during the first year after heart transplantation. One blood sample was obtained from each of 41 patients: 26 treated with cyclosporine and 15 with tacrolimus. We characterize the SNPs rs1045642, 1128503, 2032582, 2235013, 2235033, 2229109, 3213619, 9282564 in ABCB1 and rs10264272, 776746 in CYP3A5 genes using the …
5-Fluorouracil: various kinds of loaded liposomes: encapsulation efficiency, storage stability and fusogenic properties
1993
Abstract This paper describes the optimization of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) loaded liposome formulations. Four different preparation procedures were carried out, obtaining two types of multilamellar vesicles (MLVs), stable plurilamellar vesicles (SPLVs) and large unilamellar vesicles (LUVs). In this study various phospholipids were used to prepare liposomes. The lipid mixtures containing diplamitoylphosphatidylserine seemed the best for biological 5-FU delivery by presenting better encapsulation efficiency parameters, serum and storage stability, and fusogenic properties, which are an important factor prerequisite for in vivo liposome-cell interaction. The presence of cholesterol in the liposom…

Effect of pH on the transfer kinetics of an anti-inflammatory drug from polyaspartamide hydrogels to a lipid model membrane
1997
Abstract The release of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), 4-biphenylacetic acid (BPAA), from α,β-poly( N -hydroxyethyl)- dl -aspartamide (PHEA) hydrogels was tested at different pHs (4 and 7.4) by measuring the drug transfer from loaded hydrogel to dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) liposomes (multilamellar vesicles, MLV), chosen as a biomembrane model. This drug transfer was compared with the transfer from powdered drug and with drug classical. The perturbing effect of pure BPAA on the thermotropic behaviour of DMPC liposomes, in terms of transition temperature shift (Δ T m ) and enthalpy changes (Δ H ), was analysed at different pHs (4 and 7.4) by differential scanning cal…
Predicting the in vivo release from a liposomal formulation by IVIVC and non-invasive positron emission tomography imaging
2010
This study aimed to predict the in vivo performance from the in vitro release of a low-molecular weight model compound, [(18)F]-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose ([(18)F]FDG), from liposomes and by means of positron emission tomography (PET). Liposomes composed of hydrogenated phosphatidylcholine (HPC) were prepared by a freeze-thaw method. Particle size distribution was measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS). In vitro release was examined with a dispersion method detecting the radioactivity of [(18)F]FDG. In vivo release of [(18)F]FDG, following i.p. injection of the liposomes in rats, was determined by using a Micro-PET scanner. Convolution was performed to predict the in vivo profiles from …
