o-Boronato- and o-Trifluoroborato-Phosphonium Salts Supported by L-α-Amino Acid Side Chain.
2015
The synthesis of o-boronato- and o-trifluoroborato-phosphonium salts supported by the L-amino acid side chain is described. The synthesis of these new class of amino acid derivatives was achieved by stereoselective quaternization of o-(pinacolato)boronatophenylphosphine with β- or γ-iodo amino acid derivatives which are prepared from L-serine or L-aspartic acid, respectively. The quaternization of the phosphine was performed using either iodo amino ester or carboxylic acid derivatives. In addition, free carboxylic acid and amine derivatives were obtained by saponification or HCl acidolysis of o-boronato-phosphonium amino esters, respectively. The usefulness of these compounds in peptide cou…
ChemInform Abstract: Synthetic Approaches to Antiinflammatory Macrolactones of the Oxacyclododecindione Type.
2015
A variety of attempts to synthesize oxacyclododecindione macrolactones through carbonylative ring-closure, intramolecular alkyne hydroacyalation, and Ru-catalyzed double bond isomerization fails.
Salt tolerance of Rana temporaria: spawning site selection and survival during embryonic development (Amphibia, Anura)
1999
AbstractSpawning site selection of Rana temporaria is dependent on the salinity of the water. In the nature reserve 'Salzwiesen von Münzenberg' (Germany) the frogs avoided increased conductivity values, Cl- ion concentrations and salinities and selected lower values for spawning. In the laboratory Gosner stages 20/21 to 22/23 were more sensitive to sodium than the earlier G stages 8 to 20/21 (exposition for 72 h) though they were exposed for the shorter time period of 24 h. The 'no observed effect concentration' (NOEC) between G stages 8/9 and 20/21 was 648 ppm (3350 μS, 2.2‰ salinity) for Na+ and 1872 ppm (6500 μS, 4.0‰ salinity) for K+. The NOEC between G stages 20/21 and 22/23 was 1490 p…
Responses to salt stress in the halophyte Plantago crassifolia (Plantaginaceae)
2004
Abstract General responses to salt stress have been investigated in the halophyte Plantago crassifolia. Seed germination was strongly inhibited by NaCl, although seed viability and germination capacity were not affected by salt pre-treatments. A concentration-dependent inhibition of plant growth was observed in the presence of NaCl, which was accompanied by the accumulation of Na+ ions in the leaves, as determined by cation exchange HPLC. A 20-fold increase of proline content in leaves was observed when plants were treated with 500 m m NaCl, suggesting a protective role against high salinity stress for this amino acid, whose possible mechanism of action is discussed.
Encapsulation of secondary and tertiary ammonium salts by resorcinarenes and pyrogallarenes: the effect of size and charge concentration
2015
The binding of different categories of alkyl ammonium (secondary and tertiary mono- and di-ammonium) salts with resorcinarenes and a pyrogallarene through weak interactions was analysed in all phases. 1H NMR spectroscopy and electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry were utilized in analysing the complexes in solution and in the gas phase, respectively. The 1H NMR titration studies in methanol-d4 reveal that the association constants for the 1:1 complexes vary according to the electronic properties of the hosts as well as the size, geometric orientation and charge concentration of the guest cations with binding constants of up to 950 M−1 in some cases. Mass spectrometry reveals 1:1 monomeri…
Apparent molar volumes of strontium nitrate and copper(II) chloride in ethanol + water at 298.15 K
1998
Densities of ethanol + water + strontium nitrate and ethanol + water + copper(II) chloride mixtures have been measured with an oscillating-tube densimeter over a large range of concentrations of the salt and ethanol, at 298.15 K. From these densities, apparent molar volumes of both electrolytes in ethanol + water mixtures have been calculated, and partial molar volumes at infinite dilution have been evaluated.
Tribenzylammonium chloride
2014
Single crystals of the title salt, C21H21NH+·Cl−, were isolated as a side product from the reaction involving [(C6H5CH2)3NH]2[HPO4] and Sn(CH3)3Cl in ethanol. Both the cation and the anion are situated on a threefold rotation axis. The central N atom in the cation has a slightly distorted tetrahedral environment, with angles ranging from 107.7 to 111.16 (10)°. In the crystal, the tribenzylammonium cations and chloride anions are linked through N—H...Cl and C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of infinite chains along [001]. The crystal studied was a merohedral twin.

Densities of ethanol + water + potassium nitrate and ethanol + water + sodium nitrate mixtures have been measured with an oscillating-tube densimeter over a large range of concentrations of the salt and ethanol, at 298.15 K. From these densities, apparent molar volumes of both electrolytes in ethanol + water mixtures have been calculated, and partial molar volumes at infinite dilution have been evaluated.
Original packing and unusual molecular conformation of the bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (ET) donors induced by cation–anion interactions in …
2002
The crystal structure of the radical salt ET5[B10I10]·0.8CH2Cl2 has been determined and the packing and molecular conformation of the organic donors are discussed in terms of the C–H⋯I contacts between the ethylene groups of the ET molecules and the iodine atoms of the borane anion [B10I10]2−.
Study by EQCM on the voltammetric electrogeneration of poly(neutral red). The effect of the pH and the nature of cations and anions on the electroche…
2003
Generation of poly(neutral red) films has been studied by means of the simultaneous measurements of current–potential and mass–potential curves during cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments. It has been proved that the presence of molecular oxygen in the solution increases the amount of polymer deposited on the electrode. Otherwise, using the mass/charge ratio it is possible to obtain quantitative information about the electrodeposition by different procedures. It is observed that this ratio decreases when the amount of polymer electrogenerated increases, except when the polymer is not reduced and oxidised after its electrogeneration. The study of poly(neutral red) by CV and quartz crystal mic…
