In a new international competitive order, it is necessary an adequate human capital formation. In this context Vocational Training acquire a new perspective inside education system. We plead to provide rura…
Educación compensatoria : aprendizaje temprano, éxito posterior : (II: el Carolina Abecedarian Project)
2014
The compensatory regeneration of the operculum ofHydroides norvegica: Identification of the inhibiting substance
1973
In the polychete Hydroides norvegica there are two opercula with different degrees of organization: one is completely developed and functional, the other, present only in rudimentary outline. The latter only begins to develop when the functional operculum is removed. It was observed that in the whole body of the Hydroides, but particularly in the functional operculum, there is a substance which inhibits the development of the rudimental operculum. This substance was purified in order to determine its chemical nature. From preparation of opercular homogenates we chemically separated numerous fractions, each of which was tested for inhibitory activity and chemical and physical properties. The…
The Role of Age and Gender in Perceived Vulnerability to Infectious Diseases
2020
Background: The study of the immune system has been approached using two separate paths, the biological immune system and the behavioral immune system. Recently, Gangestad and Grebe proposed a unique integrated compensatory immune system, where both systems work together and one of them could compensate for the other when necessary. However, few studies have confirmed the existence of this integrated compensatory immune system. Our study represents an attempt to explore the existence of this unique immune system, investigating if the behavioral immune system variables increase when the biological immune system weakens with age. Material and Methods. The cross-sectional design study was made…
Selective T3–T4 sympathicotomy versus gray ramicotomy on outcome and quality of life in hyperhidrosis patients: a randomized clinical trial
2021
Abstract Background: compensatory hyperhidrosis is the leading cause of patients' dissatisfaction after thoracic sympathicotomy. Objective: to reduce compensatory hyperhidrosis to increase patients' satisfaction. Patients and methods: a prospective randomized study on palmar hyperhidrosis, May 2016-September, 2019. Twenty-one patients T3-T4 sympathicotomy and 21 T3-T4 gray ramicotomy. Data prospectively collected. Analysis at study's end. Focus on the sweating, temperature, quality of life baseline and postoperatively, compensatory hyperhidrosis, hand dryness, patients' satisfaction, and if they would undergo the procedure again and would recommend it.Results: No baseline differences between…
Electromechanical Numerical Analysis of an Air-Core Pulsed Alternator via Equivalent Network Formulation
2017
In this paper, the numerical analysis on an air-core pulsed alternator is presented. Since compulsators are characterized by very fast electromechanical transients, their accurate analysis requires strong coupling between the equations governing the electrical and the mechanical behaviors. The device is investigated by using a dedicated numerical code capable to take into account eddy currents, compensating windings, as well as the excitation/control circuits. Furthermore, the code is capable of modeling centrifugal forces and vibrations acting on the shaft due to electric and mechanical unbalances or to misalignments of the shaft from its centered position. This makes the code a very power…

Aerosol layers from the 2008 eruptions of Mount Okmok and Mount Kasatochi: In situ upper troposphere and lower stratosphere measurements of sulfate a…
2010
In 2008 Mount Okmok and Mount Kasatochi started erupting on 12 July and 7 August, respectively, in the Aleutians, depositing emissions of trace gases and aerosols as high as 15.2 km into the atmosphere. During an aircraft campaign, conducted over Europe in between 27 October and 2 November 2008, the volcanic aerosol was measured by an Aerodyne aerosol mass spectrometer, capable of particle chemical composition measurements covering a size diameter range between 40 nm and 1 mm. In the volcanic aerosol layer enhanced submicron particulate sulfate concentrations of up to 2.0 mg mâÂÂ3 standard temperature and pressure (STP) were observed between 8 and 12 km altitude, while background values …
Emergence of statistically validated financial intraday lead-lag relationships
2014
According to the leading models in modern finance, the presence of intraday lead-lag relationships between financial assets is negligible in efficient markets. With the advance of technology, however, markets have become more sophisticated. To determine whether this has resulted in an improved market efficiency, we investigate whether statistically significant lagged correlation relationships exist in financial markets. We introduce a numerical method to statistically validate links in correlation-based networks, and employ our method to study lagged correlation networks of equity returns in financial markets. Crucially, our statistical validation of lead-lag relationships accounts for mult…
