High-pressure study of ScVO4by Raman scattering andab initiocalculations

We report results of experimental and theoretical lattice-dynamics studies on scandium orthovanadate up to 35 GPa. Raman-active modes of the low-pressure zircon phase are measured up to 8.2 GPa, where the onset of an irreversible zircon-to-scheelite phase transition is detected. Raman-active modes in the scheelite structure are observed up to 16.5 GPa. Beyond 18.2 GPa we detected a gradual splitting of the ${E}_{g}$ modes of the scheelite phase, indicating the onset of a second phase transition. ScVO4 under non-hydrostatic compression:a new metastable polymorph

Ustedes se ocupan e ver si se puede hacer de acceso público. Podria buscra el preprint al ser algo reciente. Se estudia el comportamiento bajo alta presión del vanadato de scandio, ScVO4, bajo compresión no hidrostática. El estudio se realiza mediante difracción de rayos X en polvo usando radiación sincrotrón. Se detecta una transición no reversible desde la fase zircon a la fase fergusonita alrededor de 6 GPa con una discontinuidad en el volumen de un 10%. La fase fergusonota se puede recuperar como metaestable confirmandose mediante XRD. Las simulaciones ab intio confirman los resultados experimentales. Isomorphous ion substitutions and order-disorder phenomena in highly electrocaloric lead-scandium tantalate solid solutions

Abstract The authors discuss the physical background of the electrocaloric effect in PST ceramics and its solid solutions. The most important contribution to the electrocaloric effect is due to field-induced Fm3m→R3m phase transition in the case of high long range ordering degree of B-ions in the perovskite structure ABO3.

Nuclear charge radii and electromagnetic moments of radioactive scandium isotopes and isomers

International audience; Collinear laser spectroscopy experiments with the Sc + transition 3d4s 3 D 2 → 3d4p 3 F 3 at λ = 363.1 nm were performed on the 42−46 Sc isotopic chain using an ion guide isotope separator with a cooler-buncher. Nuclear magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments as well as isotope shifts were determined from the hyperfine structure for five ground states and two isomers. Extensive multi-configurational Dirac-Fock calculations were performed in order to evaluate the specific mass-shift, M SMS, and field-shift, F, parameters which allowed evaluation of the charge radii trend of the Sc isotopic sequence. Background 44Sc has been increasingly investigated as a potential alternative to 68Ga in the development of tracers for positron emission tomography (PET). The lower mean positron energy of 44Sc (0.63 MeV) compared to 68Ga (0.83 MeV) can result in better spatial image resolutions. However, high-energy γ-rays (1157 keV) are emitted at high rates (99.9%) during 44Sc decay, which can reduce image quality. Post-elution processing of 44Ti/44Sc generator-derived 44Sc for clinical application

The (44)Ti/(44)Sc (T(1/2)(44)Ti=60a) generator provides cyclotron-independent access to positron-emitting (44)Sc (T(1/2)=3.97d) for PET imaging. This work aims to post-elution processing of initial (44)Sc generator eluates in order to reduce its volume, HCl concentration and remove the oxalate anions. The on-line adsorption of (44)Sc on cationic resin AG 50W-X8 (200-400 mesh, H(+)-form) is achieved with >98% efficacy. Subsequently, the purified (44)Sc is desorbed by using 3ml of 0.25M ammonium acetate (pH=4.0). The post-processing takes 10min. Radiolabeling of DOTATOC with the long-lived positron emitter 44Sc.

Abstract The positron-emitting radionuclide 44 Sc with a half-life of 3.97 h and a β + branching of 94.3% is of potential interest for clinical PET. As so far it is available from a 44 Ti/ 44 Sc generator in Mainz, where long-lived 44 Ti decays to no-carrier-added (nca) 44 Sc. The 44 Sc is a trivalent metal cation and should be suitable for complexation with many well established bifunctional chelators conjugated to peptides or other molecular targeting vectors. On lead-scandium tantalate solid solutions with high electrocaloric effect

Abstract The PbSc0,5Ta0,5O3 solutions are found to be a useful material for active elements of microcryogenic devices based on electrocaloric effect. A temperature difference of ΔT = 1. 0-1.8 K at field intensities 20–30 kV/cm in the interval of 210–310 K can be achieved by simultaneous or separate introducing of Sb and Co ions in B-sites of the lattice. The most important contribution to the electrocaloric effect is due to field-induced Fn3m → R3m phase transition in the case of high ordering of B-ions in the perovskite structure ABO3.
